SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team upset conference-rival Indiana (Pa.) with a thrilling 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-15) sweep Friday night at Morrow Field House.
Slippery Rock earns its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference win of the season to improve to 8-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference, while also snapping a nine-game losing streak. SRU hands IUP their first PSAC loss of the season as the Crimson Hawks fall to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in conference action. Â
SRU jumped out to a one-set lead with a close 25-23 win that featured 14 ties and six lead changes. The Rock carried that momentum into the second set by getting out to a 4-0 lead before IUP fought back to tie it up 8-8. SRU held onto a slight lead for the remainder of the set before closing out with a 4-1 run to earn a 25-20 win. The Rock got out to an early 6-2 lead in the third set, but IUP battled back to tie it up 12-12. SRU outscored the visitors 13-3 down the stretch to earn a 25-15 victory and earn the sweep.

Beth Stumpf brought the power for The Rock with 16 total kills, while sophomore
Lamija Alisic added 13 kills in the win. Sophomore
Haley Defibaugh recorded 27 assists, while classmate
Hanna Lombardo passed out 12. Sophomore
Courtney Oberlander had a team-high 12 digs, while Stumpf added 11.
Slippery Rock finished the match with advantages over IUP in kills (42-29), digs (48-43) and total blocks (9-4).
SRU continues PSAC action when it hosts Clarion Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
