Rock splits on day two of PSAC East Crossover

The Slippery Rock volleyball team went 1-1 on day two of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover tournament at East Stroudsburg Saturday.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team split on day two of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover tournament at East Stroudsburg University's Koehler Fieldhouse Saturday.

Slippery Rock's record goes to 10-16 overall and 3-10 in the PSAC after going 2-2 out east this weekend.

The Rock opened the day with a 3-0 win against East Stroudsburg (6-16, 1-11) before falling 3-0 to West Chester (19-6, 7-6).

In the first match of the day, SRU swept ESU in three sets, 25-22, 25-14, 25-16.

Shayla Ray and Beth Stumpf led The Rock against the Warriors in the opener with seven kills apiece.

Hanna Lombardo contributed 19 assists, while Courtney Oberlander added 20 digs and Jaden Zimmer put up four blocks to cap the leaders for The Rock.

In game two of the crossover, West Chester blanked The Rock, 25-18, 25-18, 25-21.

Leah Jones had 10 kills to lead The Rock in Game Two, while Lamija Alisic added eight kills of her own. Ray and Kristen C. Smith registered two service aces.

Lombardo had 16 assists in the loss, while Haley Defibaugh recorded 15. Oberlander had 12 digs to lead the defensive effort for Slippery Rock.

The Rock will host Seton Hill Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. and California (Pa.) Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. at Morrow Field House.
