Traditional Box Score (HTML)SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team won its sixth consecutive game to close out the 2014 portion of the schedule with a convincing 110-64 victory over Ohio University Eastern in non-conference action on New Year's Eve at Morrow Field House.

The Rock improved to 10-2 overall with the victory, their second this season over the Panthers after a 134-69 victory at home Dec. 5. Ohio Eastern dropped to 7-4.

Slippery Rock was in control from the opening tip as Ohio Eastern had just six active players and struggled to keep up with the size and depth of the hosts.

The Rock topped the 50-point mark in each half and finished the game with an incredible +43 advantage in total rebounds at 75-32. Included in that total was 35 offensive rebounds that led to a total of 38 second chance points.

Slippery Rock shot 49 percent from the field (50-of-102), 27.3 percent from 3-point (6-of-22) and 44.4 percent from the free throw line (4-of-9). A total of 14 players played at least 11 minutes for SRU and 13 of the 14 registered points in the game.

Frank Holloway led the way with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds in just 16 minutes.
Chaquille Pratt scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Cornelius Brown added 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double and
Antonio Butler scored 10 points.

Allen Jiles and
Chris Hays each scored nine points off the bench to cap the top performances for the hosts.

Ohio Eastern shot 35.4 percent from the field (28-of-79), 17.4 percent from 3-point (4-of-23) and 66.7 percent from the free throw line (4-of-6).

The Panthers were led by a game-high 19 points from Jordan Sorge, who also added five assists. Cody Schau recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds and also recorded four blocked shots to pace a seven-block effort from his team. Ellis Brown added 14 points and six rebounds to round out the top performers from Ohio Eastern.

Wednesday's game was the final non-conference game of the season for Slippery Rock, which will face decidedly more difficult opposition the rest of the way. First up in the 2015 portion of the schedule will be back-to-back games this weekend at Mansfield and Lock Haven. Tip is set for 3 p.m. Jan. 3 at Mansfield and 3 p.m. at Lock Haven Jan. 4.
