Traditional Box Score (HTML)KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team won its fifth game in a row and snapped Kutztown's seven-game winning streak in the process with a 73-69 road victory at Keystone Arena Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover action.

Kutztown was the hottest team in the PSAC entering the game after winning seven in a row and moving into a tie for first place in the PSAC Eastern Division. The Rock snapped that streak to improve to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in PSAC games. Kutztown drops to 8-4 overall and 5-2 in league action.

Both teams battled back and forth for most of the opening half before Slippery Rock took a 36-32 lead at halftime.

The Rock opened up a double figure advantage at 56-44 with a 20-13 run to begin the second half and Kutztown could never recover. The Golden Bears battle back to get the deficit to two points just under three minutes to go, but could never even the score or gain an advantage.

Slippery Rock remained unbeaten on the year when holding its opponent to under 45 percent shooting from the field, improving to 9-0 after holding Kutztown to 39 percent from the field (23-of-59).

The Rock shot 44.1 percent from the floor (26-of-59), 38.1 percent from beyond the 3-point arc (8of-21) and 73.9 percent at the free throw line (13-of-18). The visitors posted a 43-31 advantage in total rebounds and scored 19 second chance points on 15 offensive rebounds.

Kutztown finished the game shooting 40 percent from beyond the 3-point arc (6-of-15) and 73.9 percent from the free throw line (17-of-23).

Frank Holloway led Slippery Rock with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
Antonio Butler added 16 points and
Kelvin Goodwin chipped in 15 points and a career-high nine assists.
Cornelius Brown added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to cap The Rock's four double digit scorers.

Kutztown was led by Tynell Fortune with 14 points. Tyler Brooks added 13 points and Josh Johnson chipped in 12 points.

Saturday's game marked the final PSAC game of the 2014 calendar year for Slippery Rock. The Rock will close the 2014 portion of the schedule at home against Ohio University Eastern on New Year's Eve at 1 p.m.

The 2015 portion of the schedule kicks off with back-to-back road crossover games at Mansfield and Lock Haven Jan. 3-4.
