LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University defensive lineman Marcus Martin was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Freshman of the Year and The Rock football team landed 10 players on the All-Conference team announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Slippery Rock landed five players on the All-PSAC Western Division first team and five on the second team, including three repeat selections from last season.

Martin headlined the list by earning Freshman of the Year honors and being selected to the first team defense.

Joining Martin on the first team defense is linebacker Austin Miele and cornerback Admire Carter. The Rock offense is represented on the first team by running back Shamar Greene and offensive tackle Cory Tucker.

Slippery Rock's offensive line placed three starters on the All-Conference team as guard Kirk Nypaver and center Joe LoSchiavo were named to second team honors. The second team offense selections were capped by placekicker Mike Wainauskis.

The Rock defensive line picked up a second All-PSAC selection with Joe Phillips earning second team honors and the secondary added a second selection as safety Derrick Fulmore rounded out the team's honorees.

The 10 All-PSAC selections helped Slippery Rock to a 9-2 overall record and the 10th PSAC title in program history as The Rock defeated No. 5 Bloomsburg in the PSAC Championship game last weekend. Slippery Rock earned its second consecutive NCAA playoff berth and will play in the first round at noon Saturday at West Chester.

A complete breakdown of The Rock's All-PSAC selections can be found below.

DE - #44 Marcus Martin – First Team Defense – Freshman of the Year
• Martin leads the PSAC in sacks and tackles for loss and ranks among the nation's leaders in each category. He broke the SRU single-season sack record just nine games into his career and has 16.0 sacks for a loss of 118 yards so far this season. His sack total ranks third in the nation and no player in Division II has forced more lost yardage in sacks. His 22.5 tackles for loss rank sixth among all players in Division II and his 136 lost yards on those plays is more than any other player in the nation. In addition to his tackles behind the line of scrimmage, Martin ranks second on The Rock defense with 66 total tackles. He has three pass breakups, 10 credited quarterback hurries and one forced fumble. Martin was nominated for the Cliff Harris Award this year, which recognizes the best small college defensive player in the nation.

LB - #42 Austin Miele – First Team Defense – Repeat Selection
• Miele did something this year that not many players in Rock history have done before in repeating as a first team All-PSAC selection at an entirely different position. A first team pick as a safety last year, Miele moved up to outside linebacker this fall to fill the void after SRU lost all seven of its starting linemen and linebackers from last year. He has thrived in the new role, leading the team with 86 total tackles, 20 more than the next highest. He ranks second on the team in tackles for loss with 11.0, including 3.0 in the PSAC title game last week. Miele also has 11 pass breakups and three interceptions, as well as four quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery on the year.

CB - #22 Admire Carter – First Team Defense
• Carter earns his first All-PSAC recognition after standing out as one of the top cornerbacks in the league. He ranks fourth among all players in Division II this season in passes defended at an average of 1.9 per game. Carter has broken up a career-high 16 passes this season, the second most in a single-season in SRU history, and also has three interceptions to go along with it. He has 35 career pass breakups and ranks second all-time at SRU in that category. Carter also has 29 total tackles this year.

RB - #23 Shamar Greene – First Team Offense – Repeat Selection
• Greene was named to second team honors last fall after his freshman year and topped that with a first team selection this year. He is putting up some of the best numbers ever seen by an SRU running back and currently has rushed for 1,459 yards, the second highest single-season total in program history. He is 142 yards shy of tying the program record for yards in a season. Greene is averaging 132.6 yards per game and an incredible 6.3 yards per carry. Even more impressive is the limited number of carries Greene has been able to produce on, as he has carried the ball just 230 of The Rock's 549 rushing plays. Greene has 10 touchdowns on the year and three runs of at least 50 yards. He has also caught 25 passes for 265 yards.

RT - #72 Cory Tucker – First Team Offense – Repeat Selection
• Tucker joins Miele as the only Rock players to earn back-to-back first team selections. A first team Preseason All-American by multiple outlets, Tucker has delivered this season by helping to lead one of the best offensive lines in the region. The Rock has gone for total offensive outputs of more than 475 yards in 16 of the 23 games dating back to the beginning of the 2013 season. Included in that number are 14 games with more than 500 yards and seven games with more than 600 yards. This season, Slippery Rock is averaging 488.3 yards and 37.7 points per game. Tucker is on the Super Region One ballot for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year award.

RG - #61 Kirk Nypaver – Second Team Offense
• Nypaver earns his first All-PSAC selection as the right guard, joining with Tucker to form one of the best right sides of any offensive line in the league. Nypaver was injured twice during his senior season, but still managed to play in most of the team's games. He is serving as one of The Rock's four team captains this year and in addition to his play on the field, is a first team Capital One Academic All-District selection for his outstanding efforts in the classroom.

C - #71 Joe LoSchiavo – Second Team Offense
• LoSchiavo earns his first All-PSAC honor in just his second collegiate season as the starting center on the offensive line. He is one of only two centers in the PSAC Western Division to be honored. LoSchiavo has started all 11 games this season.

PK - #16 Mike Wainauskis – Second Team Offense
• Wainauskis is enjoying the best season of his career at Slippery Rock, ranking third in the PSAC in field goal accuracy at 83.3 percent. He has connected on 10-of-12 kicks, including a career-long 41-yarder and a memorable field goal at Michigan Stadium. His 10 made field goals rank fifth on the single-season ledger at SRU. His 51 extra points made this year rank second in school history, one behind his record of 52 set last season. His 103 made extra points the last two years rank fourth on the career list at SRU.

DT - #91 Joe Phillips – Second Team Defense
• Phillips earns his first All-PSAC honor in his first season as a starter on the defensive line, joining Martin to provide one of the best 1-2 pass rushing tandems in the league. Phillips was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week earlier this year for his dominant performance in the win at Indiana. He has 4.5 sacks and 8.0 tackles for loss this year to go along with 29 total tackles. Phillips also has one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

FS - #8 Derrick Fulmore – Second Team Defense
• Fulmore earns his first All-PSAC honor in his first season as the starting free safety. The sophomore ranks fifth on The Rock in total tackles with 57, including 2.0 tackles for loss. He leads the team and ranks 18th in the nation with six interceptions and has returned those picks for a total of 101 yards and one touchdown. Fulmore has also recorded five pass breakups and blocked one kick.
