SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – No. 12 East Stroudsburg University handed hosting Slippery Rock University a 76-64 loss Tuesday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" men's basketball action in Morrow Field House.
The win was ESU's ninth in as many games this winter, while the loss dropped SRU's season record to 8-3.
Both teams are back in action Wednesday as The Rock host West Chester and East Stroudsburg travels to California (Pa.). Both games are set to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
East Stroudsburg forced The Rock into 23 turnovers in Tuesday night's game and parlayed those mistakes into 24 points, while SRU got 10 points off eight ESU turnovers.
The Rock won the rebounding battle by a dominating 53-30 margin and had a 48-32 scoring advantage "in the paint."
The teams had nearly identical field-goal shooting percentages as SRU made 41% (27 of 66) of its shots and ESU hit 40% (23 of 57).
The Rock were a frigid 1-for-9 (11%) from 3-point range, while the Warriors hit six of 22 (27%) long-range shots.
The guests had a considerable advantage from the foul line as they made 24 of 34 (71%) charity tosses, compared to SRU's 9-of-17 (53%) showing.
Freshman phenom Rasheed Moore took game scoring honors with 24 points for ESU, while sophomore guard Jamal Nwaniemeka added 14 points and junior all-region guard Whis Grant chipped in 12 points. Junior guard Matt Tobin scored nine points and handed out six assists.

Tuesday night's game was a rematch of last year's PSAC semifinal game, which The Rock won by a 68-59 score in Indiana, Pa.
The Rock and Warriors traded scoring spurts and leads for the first 31-plus minutes of action Tuesday night before the guests went on a 10-0 run to take command of the action.
The run gave ESU a 60-50 lead with 8:22 left to play. SRU cut the deficit to four points, 62-58, at the 4:30 mark but that was the extent of any Rock comeback.
The score was tied on seven occasions and the lead changed hands 15 times. The largest ESU lead was the final 12-point margin, while The Rock's largest lead was a three-point, 42-39, advantage with 16 minutes left to play.
