Friday's loss, coupled with wins Friday by Gannon and Indiana (Pa.), ended a three-game win streak for SRU and dropped the Green and White into a three-way tie for first place in the PSAC-Western Division standings.

With the win over SRU, East Stroudsburg maintained a one-game lead over both Millersville and West Chester in the PSAC-Eastern Division standings.

SRU will look to regain its winning ways at 7:30 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Kutztown (3-11 overall, 2-6 PSAC), which lost a 78-77, double-overtime decision Friday night at Edinboro.

East Stroudsburg visits Edinboro (9-3, 5-3) for a 7:30 p.m. game Saturday.

Friday's SRU-ESU game action was every bit as good as its pregame billing as a battle between two of the top teams in the PSAC and NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional.

Each team made 37% of their field-goal attempts, ESU hitting 25 of 67 and SRU making 22 of 59.

The Rock made 74% (26-35) of their free throws, compared to a 69% (29-42) efficiency by the Warriors.

East Stroudsburg enjoyed more success from 3-point range as the guests made 25% (5-20) of their long-range shots, compared to an icy 11% (2-18) effort by the hosts.

For the 11th time in 12 games this winter, The Rock ruled the backboards as the Green and White outrebounded ESU by a 49-39 margin.

The hosts committed 20 turnovers, which the guests converted into 22 points, while forcing only six miscues, which led to seven Rock points.

SRU ran out to an 11-0 lead after three and a half minutes of action, only to see East Stroudsburg come back and trim the margin to four points with 11:30 left before halftime.

The Rock weathered that storm and held an eight-point lead on three occasions in the next 10 minutes of action en route to the six-point (32-26) advantage they held at the intermission.

East Stroudsburg took its first lead of the game at 38-37 with 15:00 left to play and never trailed thereafter.
