LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The Slippery Rock University football team snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday as they waltzed to a 47-6 win over winless Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.

The win, which improved SRU's season record to 6-4 overall and gave it a 3-4 final mark in PSAC-West action, assured the Green and White of a winning record this fall.

SRU closes out its 2009 schedule next Saturday at East Stroudsburg.

Lock Haven, meanwhile, suffered its 20th consecutive loss and saw its season record drop to 0-9 overall, 0-7 in division play.

Saturday's win was SRU's 21st straight over the Bald Eagles, who have not beaten The Rock since 1980.

The Rock amassed 316 yards in total offense (192 rushing, 124 passing) in Saturday's game, while Lock Haven finished the game with minus-4 yards (-65 rushing, 61 passing).

Redshirt freshman running back Akeem Satterfield led The Rock attack with 107 yards on 19 rushes, including touchdown runs of 10 and 45 yards.

True freshman quarterback Ryan O'Rourke, in his first collegiate start, completed nine of 20 passes for 124 yards and one TD, a 34-yard toss to redshirt junior wide receiver Devin Goda in the second quarter.

Goda had four catches for 87 yards.

The Rock defense forced Lock Haven into 11 (no misprint) fumbles, four of which were recovered by SRU, and also blocked three punts and intercepted a pass.

SRU's offense committed four fumbles, only one of which it lost.

Junior cornerback Andre Freeman blocked punts on back-to-back LHU drives in the first quarter to set the tone for the day.

The first block set up a 28-yard field goal by junior kicking specialist #C.J. Bahr while sophomore linebacker Kyle Smedi# recovered the second blocked punt in the end zone for the second Rock touchdown.

Satterfield's 10-yard TD run with 10:04 left in the second quarter expanded The Rock lead to 24-0 before senior running back Damarcus Cleckley scored on a two-yard run to make it 31-0.

The O'Rourke-to-Goda TD toss accounted for the final first-half points and sent the Green and White into the intermission with a 38-0 advantage.

The Rock offense had 208 total yards in the first two periods, 120 of the yards coming on an 8-of-15 passing effort by O'Rourke and 83 yards on19 rushing attempts. Goda had four catches for 87 yards.

The Rock defense, meanwhile, held Lock Haven to minus-41 yards in offense in the first two periods, minus-41 yards on 18 rushing attempts and plus-seven passing yards on three completions.

Saturday's game marked the ninth time in as many games this fall that Lock Haven failed to score a single point. All 40 of the Bald Eagles' points this season have been scored after halftime.

The Bald Eagles took the goose egg off the scoreboard Saturday with nine minutes left in the third period, aided by a roughing the passer penalty on fourth down against The Rock.

The touchdown was recorded on a pass tipped by Rock senior cornerback #A.J. Saunders# and caught in the end zone by Lock Haven's Jay Hartman.

A high snap from center on a punt attempt with 12 minutes left to play in the game gave SRU a 40-6 lead and, on the first play following the free kick, Satterfield burst through the line and sprinted 45 yards to the end zone for the final TD.

Sophomore kicker Kurt Brackman assumed the kicking duties early in the second quarter and finished the game with four extra points, while Bahr had two PATs and a field goal.
