CHEYNEY, Pa. -- The Rock trailed virtually the entire game Saturday afternoon in its 76-69 loss to hosting Cheyney in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference interdivisional action.
The Green and White never led in the first half and were down by six points, 29-23, at halftime before they scored 10 of the first 14 points in the second half to tie the score at 33-33 with 16 minutes left to play.
SRU took its first lead of the game with 14:15 left when it had a 37-35 edge and held a 39-38 lead with 13:08 before the hosts regained the lead and never relinquished it.

Denell Stephens scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed five rebounds for SRU, which lost for only the second time in 10 games this winter. Junior forward
Maron Brown added 14 poingts and 10 rebounds for the Green and White, while senior point guard
Kyle Camper chipped in 11 points and handed out a team-best nine assists.
The Rock shot a very respectable 51% (25 of 49) from the field and hit 32% (8 of 25) of its 3-point attempts but had made only 40.7% (11 of 27) of its free throw opportunities.
Cheyney (7-1), meanwhile, shot 42.6% (23 of 54) from fhe field, 36.8% (7 of 19) from beyond the arc and 62.6% (23 of 37) at the foul line.
The teams battled to a 35-35 stalemate in rebounds.
The Rock seeks to bounce back from the loss when it visits Shippensburg for a 3 p.m. PSAC "crossover" game Sunday before returning home to host Millersville in a 3 p.m. game Jan. 10 in Morrow Field House.
