ERIE, Pa. -- Sophomore forward Maron Brown (pictured above) scored a team-high 18 points and senior forward Denell Stephens recorded his 10th "double-double" of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday night to lead The Rock effort in an 80-60 loss to hosting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Gannon.

The loss dropped the Green and White's season records to 10-6 overall and 1-2 in division play as they prepare for Saturday's 3 p.m. game in Morrow Field House against PSAC-West rival Clarion.

Gannon, the preseason favorite to win the PSAC-West title and the No. 4-ranked team in the nation in a preseason poll,  improved its season records to 13-2 overall and 2-1 in division action.

Senior point guard Kyle Camper chipped in eight points and six assists for SRU.

The Rock scored the first six points of the game before the Golden Knights got untracked. The hosts went on a 27-10 run in the span of 10-plus minutes to erase the early Rock lead and take a 27-16 lead.

The hosts never relinquished the double-digit advantage in the final 27 minutes of action. They held a 17-point, 38-21, lead at the intermission and never led by less than 15 points in the second half.

SRU finished the game with a frigid 37.3% (22 of 59) efficiency from the field, made seven of 24 (29.2%) shots from 3-point range and hit 60% (9 of 15) of its free throws.

Gannon, meanwhile, shot 50.9% (29 fo 57) from the field, hit six of 16 (37.5%) of its shots from beyond the arc and canned 16 of 17 (94.1%) of its charity tosses.

The hosts held a 36-32 advantage in rebounding and were on the lower end of a 14-13 turnover comparison.
