SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Senior guard
Denell Stephens (pictured above) recorded his fourth "double-double" of the season Monday night when he scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead The Rock to a 105-37 win over visiting Penn State Wilkes-Barre in non-conference action in Morrow Field House.
The win gave the Green and White a 7-0 record this winter and equalled last year's win total (7-20 final record).
The Rock, under the guidance of first-year head coach
Kevin Reynolds, is off to its best start since 1963-64, when a Hank Baierl-coached squad won its first nine games en route to a 16-4 final record.
Monday's game marked the fifth time this season that SRU scored more than 100 points; the school record for passing the century mark is 15 by the 1990-91 team.

Maurice Douglas added 14 points and seven rebounds in a substitute role, junior guard

The Rock outrebounded their guests by a whopping 57-27 margin and forced the Lions into 28 turnovers.
SRU also shot 53.2% (42 of 79) from the field, 20% (5 of 25) from 3-point range and 61.7% (16 of 26) from the foul line.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre shot an icy 27.5% (14 of 51) from the field, hit 27.8% (5 of 18) from beyond the arc and sank four of six free throws.
The Rock ran away to a 50-19 halftime advantage and outscored the visitors by a 55-18 margin in the final half.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre's point total was the lowest recorded by a Rock foe since Marian (Ind.) scored 37 in 1983-84. The school record for fewest points by a Rock rival is 21 by Grove City in 1944-45.
SRU is idle until Dec. 16, when it will take on Mansfield in opening-night action of the Indiana (Pa.) Holiday Tournament.
The next Rock home game is Jan. 10 vs. Millersville (3 p.m. tipoff).
