SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Sophomore
Maron Brown recorded his second straight double-double Saturday afternoon to lead The Rock to a 127-53 win over visiting Ohio State-Mansfield in non-conference action at Morrow Field House.
The Rock's point total established a new school record for single-game scoring. The previous mark was 122 points scored in 1990-91 vs. Pitt-Johnstown and 1970-71 vs. Geneva.
The 74-point winning margin is also the largest in Rock men's basketball history.
Brown (pictured above) finished the game with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Junior teammate
Maurice Douglas took game-high scoring honors with 23 points and handed out seven assists. Seniors
Jamar Scales and
Denell Stephens each chipped in 19 points for The Rock, which now owns a 3-0 record for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
Bryen Spriggs added 15 points,
Tommy Kelly 11 points and senior point guard
Kyle Camper handed out 11 assists, his third straight double-digit effort.
The Rock will look to match the 1993-94 team's 4-0 start Tuesday when it hosts perennial NCAA Division II power Ashland (Ohio) University in a 7 p.m. non-conference game in Morrow Field House.
That will be the fourth of five straight home games the Green and White will play to open the 2008-09 schedule.
