CLARION, Pa. -- Redshirt freshman running back
SayQuan Scott-Mitchell rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns in just over one quarter of action Saturday night to help lead The Rock to a 49-14 win over hosting Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for The Rock (4-3 overall, 2-2 PSAC-West). Clarion dropped to 1-6, 0-4.
Scott-Mitchell (pictured above) was one of three Rock running backs to rush for more than 100 yards in the game as The Rock rushed for 453 yards and collected 503 yards in total offense.
Senior
Corey Manfull and redshirt sophomore
ryan Lehmeier both finished the game with 129 rushing yards and two TDs.
Saturday's game is believed to be the first time in Rock football history that three SRU runners had more than 100 yards rushing in the same game.
Rock quarterbacks
Brandon Frohnapple (7 of 11, 52 yards, 1 TD) and
Brad Galvan (0-1) combined to throw for only 52 yards Saturday as The Rock steamrolled its way through the Golden Eagle' defense.
Senior wide receiver
Terry Grossetti caught three passes from Frohnapple, including a three-yard TD toss early in the second period of action.
The Rock outgained Clarion by a 503-329 yards behind its 451-100 rushing advantage.
SRU's defense held Clarion scoreless for the first three periods of action while the offense was putting 35 points on the scoreboard.
The story within the story for The Rock defense was the recording of three interceptions, the first two of which killed potential Clarion scoring drives deep in Rock territory.

Zach Sheridan hauled in a deflected pass at the Rock 5-yard line with SRU clinging to a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter.

The third Rock INT was recorded by redshirt freshman defensive back
Jon Farrell at the Clarion 34 with 5:45 left in the game.
The Rock defense also sacked Huether twice for -10 yards and had nine tackles for loss for -15 yards.
Saturday's game was the third straight road contest for The Rock, who will return home to host division rival Edinboro in a Homecoming Game next Saturday. Kickoff at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
