SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Junior guard Erroll Robinson scored a team-high 12 points and handed out four assists and freshman post player Cory Somerville chipped in 11 points and a team-best seven rebounds in Sunday's 63-51 loss to Cheyney (5-4) in Morrow Field House.

The loss was the fifth sustained by The Rock (2-9) in as many Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" games this winter and extended the Green and White's current losing streak to six games.

The Rock will seek to end the skid and record its first interdivisional win of the season Saturday when it hosts Bloomsburg in a 3 p.m. game in Morrow Field House.

SRU then concludes the seven-game "crossover" series with a 3 p.m. game next Sunday vs. Mansfield before opening PSAC-West action Jan. 16 with an 8 p.m. home game vs. Edinboro.

An 8-0 run by Cheyney midway through the second half of action proved to be the decisive difference in Sunday's game.

The teams battled on even terms in the first 14 minutes of action, at which point the score was tied at 21-21.

The count was never even nor did SRU ever lead thereafter. Cheyney held a 27-24 halftime advantage and stretched the lead to six points (32-26) 90 seconds into the second half of action before The Rock made what proved to be its final rally.

SRU trailed by only two points, 34-32, with 14:00 left in the game but found itself down by 10 points, 42-32, two and a half minutes lafter.

The hosts never got closer than seven points in the final 11 and a half minutes and trailed by a highwater mark of 15 points on three occasions.
