SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Junior point guard
Darnell Johnson scored a team-high 20 points and Joseph Vines added a "double-double" of 14 points and 11 rebounds Wednesday night in The Rock's 77-64 loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division co-leader California U. of Pa.
The loss dropped SRU's overall record to 3-15 and its PSAC-West mark to 1-3.
California is now 13-4 overall and 4-0 in PSAC-West play.
Junior guard
Matt Schaefer handed out a team-best five assists and Johnson dropped four dimes for SRU, which will host Shippensburg (6-14, 0-5) in a 1 p.m. division game Saturday in Morrow Field House.
The Rock was never really in Wednesday night's game as California held a 20-4 lead at the midway mark of the first half.
SRU trimmed the margin to nine, 38-29, at halftime but never got closer than six points in the final 20 minutes of action.
