Final Stats

Slippery Rock, Pa. - Corey Manfull celebrated his return to action in a big way as he rushed for 145 yards on 25 carries and scored four touchdowns Thursday night to lead The Rock to a 51-24 season-opening win over Seton Hill University in non-conference action on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

Manfull, who sat out the entire 2006 season with a hand injury, scored on runs of 3, 1, 8 and 5 yards to lead a Rock offensive attack that accumulated 487 yards in total offense.

Rock quarterback Nate Crookshank completed 12 of 24 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Terry Grossetti had four receptions for 82 yards, Paul Favers caught an 18-yard TD pass and Dallas Richardson hauled in a 9-yard scoring toss to lead the receiving effort.

Seton Hill finished with 320 yards in total offense, 91 rushing and 229 passing.

Griffins quarterback Matt Dowdell completed 13 of 25 passes for 229 yards and two TDs and had one pass intercepted.

The Rock held a 20-7 lead after one period of play before Seton Hill outscored the hosts by a 14-10 margin in the second stanza to trim the difference to nine, 30-21, at halftime.

A Ray Wilkins field goal for Seton Hill cut the difference to six points, 30-24, at the end of three quarters before The Rock scored three TDs in the final period.

The Rock is idle until Sept. 8, when it will host Millersville in a 3:05 p.m. game.

The Rock-Millersville game will be the first of a series of 10 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference games that will be televised live by the SPORTSFever Television Network.

The Rock marched 74 yards in six plays on the opening drive of the game to take a 7-0 lead, but Seton Hall responded with a one-play, 64-yard scoring drive to tie the count at 7-7.

Manfull's TD runs of 1 and 3 yards pushed The Rock lead to 20-7 at the end of one period of play.

Rock freshman C.J. Bahr, son of former Penn State and NFL Oakland Raiders kicker Chris Bahr, booted his first collegiate field goal -- a 23-yarder -- midway through the second stanza to extend the difference to 23-7.

Manfull scored his third TD of the game, an 8-yard run to make it 30-14.
