Cain placed second to reigning Olympic Gold Medalist and American record holder Jenn Suhr in the pole vault at Allegheny May 9. Suhr won with a world leading mark, while Cain set a PR and hit the NCAA automatic qualifier at 4.05 meters, the fourth best jump in Division II this year.
