The 2019 season will mark volunteer assistant Kristin Collins’ third year on Laurie Lokash’s coaching staff for the Slippery Rock University volleyball team.
Collins previously served as The Rock’s graduate assistant, earning her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, for two seasons. Collins assists Lokash and assistant coach Erin Street in all facets of the program.
In her first season at SRU, Collins helped lead The Rock to 11 wins while helping mentor American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region honoree Courtney Oberlander.
A year ago, Collins helped lead The Rock to 11 more wins and an 8-10 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Northwest Division competition. The eight conference victories represented the second highest league-win total by SRU dating back to the 2012 campaign. She helped coach the middle hitter duo of Shayla Ray and Erinn Kahoe to all-conference honors.
Prior to coming to The Rock, Collins was a four-year member of the Juniata College volleyball team. During her time at Juniata, Collins appeared in 64 matches, tallying 321 kills (1.56 per set) as well as 82 blocks. As a senior, Collins earned All-Landmark Conference honors after recording 138 kills (1.47 per set) to go with a .208 hitting percentage and 51 total blocks.
Collins brings a winning pedigree with her to The Rock after helping lead Juniata to an impressive 117-28 record, four conference tournament titles and four NCAA Tournament berths over her four-year career (2012-15).
A native of Freedom, Pennsylvania, Collins was an all-state athlete at Ambridge High School before electing to attend Juniata.
