Former Slippery Rock standout Kaylee Smith joined the SRU volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2015 season.
Smith came back to Slippery Rock after spending the 2014 season as an assistant coach at West Virginia Wesleyan, where she helped the Bobcats to post a 9-7 record in Mountain East Conference matches.
A 2011 graduate from Slippery Rock with a bachelor's degree in psychology, Smith was a four-year starter for The Rock from 2008-11. She appeared in 125 matches and 437 sets during her career and recorded 1,278 kills. That tally ranks eighth all-time in program history and makes her one of only 10 players to surpass 1,000 kills during their time in the Green and White.
Smith was an All-PSAC selection in 2011 following her senior year after she started all 31 matches and led the team with 334 kills.
In addition to ranking eighth on the all-time career list for kills, Smith also ranks 13th on the all-time ledger for service aces with 119 over four years.
Smith finished her career with 1,284 digs and 108 total blocks. She was also a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
Following graduation from Slippery Rock in 2011, Smith went on to earn her master's degree in mental health counseling in 2014 from Ball State University. While working toward her master's she spent time as a coach of the New Castle high school team in New Castle, Indiana. She also spent two years coaching with the Munciana volleyball club.
