Tommy Kelly

Tommy Kelly was named assistant coach of The Rock women's lacrosse team in October of 2015 after spending the three previous seasons as a graduate assistant with the program.

"Tommy did a great job for us the last three years as a graduate assistant and we're happy to have him join us full-time," said head coach Emily Hopkins. "He already fits in well with the team and this will allow us to keep progressing toward our goals for the upcoming spring season."

Kelly spent three seasons working on Hopkins' staff at Slippery Rock after joining the program as a graduate assistant following his basketball career at The Rock, where he was a four-year member of a program that reached the NCAA Tournament.

During his time as graduate assistant, Kelly worked extensively with the defensive unit for the women's lacrosse team, while also assisting with office duties and all other facets of running the program.

Over the last two years, Kelly has helped guide the team to back-to-back winning seasons with 9-8 marks in 2016 and 2015. He helped guide the team to a total of 14 wins during the two years before that.

Kelly will continue to work with the defense and will also see an expanded role in practice and game preparation in his new position.

During his basketball career at Slippery Rock, Kelly appeared in 89 games before graduating in 2013. He scored 344 career points and helped SRU to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 20 years when he averaged 4.4 points per game during the 2010-11 season.
