Stacey Rhoades enters her second season as the graduate assistant for The Rock softball team.
Rhoades graduated from Slippery Rock in 2008 with her undergraduate degree in secondary education with a concentration in English. She is now pursuing her Master’s degree in reading.
In her first season as a graduate assistant, Slippery Rock placed second in the PSAC-West and reached its first conference playoff tournament since the 1984 season. The Rock finished the season with 21 wins. In her four years as a player and one year as a graduate assistant, Rhoades has been a part of five 20+ win seasons.
Rhoades is the all-time leader in 11 different statistical categories at Slippery Rock after one of the most illustrious playing careers in PSAC history. Over her four-year career, she made 172 starts and appeared in 176 games, both of which stand as SRU records.
She holds the all-time records for batting average (.373), runs scored (143), hits (186), RBI (129), doubles (35), homeruns (35), total bases (334), walks (86) and at bats (511).
Rhoades also holds single-season records for runs scored (40), hits (60), RBI (44), doubles (15), homeruns (14), total bases (119), walks (28), at bats (145) and both games played (48) and games started (48). She also ranks eighth in single-season pitching wins with eight.
In 2008, Rhoades started in all 44 games of the season. She finished the season with 113 at bats, 42 hits, five doubles and nine home runs. She was 20-for-21 on stolen base attempts and her .372 batting average ranked third on the team. Rhoades also saw action on the pitching mound in 2008, earning an 8-4 record with a 3.24 ERA. She was named to first-team All-PSAC-West honors, as well as second-team Daktronics, Inc. All-Region honors. She helped lead the 2008 team to a school record 27 wins and Slippery Rock’s first appearance in the NCAA Regional Championship tournament.
In 2007, Rhoades picked up her first All-Conference honors with a second team nod on the All-PSAC-West squad. She started in a Rock-record 48 games and set single-seasons records for most at-bats, most hits, most doubles and most home runs. She also tied the records for most runs and runs batted in. Rhoades led the team to what was then a school record for single season wins, finishing the season with a record of 26-22.
In 2006, Rhoades saw action in 44 games, with starts in 41. She compiled 127 at-bats with 40 hits, including nine doubles, two triples, four homeruns. She finished the year with 24 runs batted in.
En route to capturing PSAC-West “Rookie of the Year” honors in 2005, Rhoades appeared in 40 games with 39 starts. She had 119 at-bats with 42 hits, including eight doubles and six homeruns and finished her freshman season with 25 runs batted in.
