Ryan Hoffman begins his second year on the Slippery Rock University men's soccer coaching staff in 2016.
In his first season as an SRU coach, Hoffman helped lead Slippery Rock to a 14-6 record and the program’s eighth Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship.
Â
The 2015 squad led the PSAC, and ranked 35th in the nation, in goals scored with 40. Defensively, Slippery Rock allowed just 20 goals, the second fewest in the PSAC. Hoffman helped coach All-PSAC honorees Peter Boylan, Ryan Boylan, Ryan Lutke and Matt Sangermano. Lutke went on to earn all-region honors as well.
A 16-year coaching veteran, Hoffman comes to The Rock after spending the last six years as the head coach of the boys soccer team at Mercer Area High School where he won six regional championships and one district 10 title. Prior to that role, Hoffman coached the Mercer girls soccer team.
Â
Hoffman, who served in the U.S. Army from 1992-00, also worked in various coaching capacities for the Stars United club team from 2008-11.

"I have known Ryan for a few years and watched him not only develop players on the field but also with high levels of character and leadership off the field," SRU Head Coach Andy Hoggarth said. "I think Ryan will bring us a huge amount of off the field discipline with his hard work, leadership development and development of people with good character in addition to his coaching knowledge. Ryan is very driven to win in the right way while developing solid student-athletes and leaders in the community."
