The 2024-25 seasons marked Nathan Shadeck’s 15th year as an assistant coach for the Slippery Rock University track and field program.

During that stretch, Shadeck has coached Rock sprinters, hurdlers and relays to 59 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships, 95 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honors and three All-America awards.

Shadeck has coached a quartet of PSAC track and field Most Outstanding Athletes in two-time winner AJ Virata, 2016 indoor track MVP Jasmine Bailey, 2011 outdoor track MVP Amanda Seigworth and 2025 indoor track MVP Samantha Gilbert.

In total, Shadeck's athletes in the sprints, hurdles and relays currently own 16 SRU event records combined between men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field.

He has also played a pivotal role in helping The Rock’s women’s indoor track & field team earn conference championships in 2014, 2016, 2020, 2023, 2024 and 2025, as well as helping the women’s team win the outdoor championships in 2019, 2023 and 2025 and helping both squads routinely place among the top two at the PSAC Championships.

Shadeck was a standout hurdler for The Rock and brings that experience to the table working with the sprinters and hurdlers. He was coached by the late Dave Labor during his undergraduate career and has taken over coaching many of the areas Labor oversaw during his tenure at SRU.

As a collegiate competitor, Shadeck was a two-time All-PSAC selection in the 400-meter hurdles, placing third at the 2006 championship meet and placing second at the 2007 meet. He owns a career-best 54.25 seconds in the event.

Shadeck was also a PSAC champion as a member of Slippery Rock's winning 4x100-meter relay team at the 2007 conference championships and helped lead SRU to its most successful team season, sweeping the conference indoor and outdoor titles in 2007-08.

Shadeck married former SRU throws coach Meagan (Cook) Shadeck in 2013. The couple have one daughter.
