Former Slippery Rock University pole vault great Cameron Daugherty will begin his sixth season as a volunteer assistant on head coach John Paps’s staff for the SRU track and field program in 2018-19. Daugherty works alongside Papa and assistant coach Bill Jordan in working with The Rock’s pole vaulters.
 
Since joining SRU’s coaching staff, Daugherty has helped coach The Rock’s pole vaulters to 12 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference individual championships, five All-American performances and one national champion.
 
The 2017-18 season saw Maddy Marshall and Courtney McQuaide split PSAC championships during the indoor and outdoor seasons with McQuaide going on to win the outdoor national championship, becoming the first Rock women’s pole vaulter to win a national title.
 
Daugherty had his coaching prowess recognized when he was named the 2016-17 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s Atlantic Region Women’s Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year.
 
One of the most accomplished athletes to ever compete at Slippery Rock, Daugherty holds both the SRU and PSAC indoor and outdoor records in the pole vault. A five-time All-American and four-time PSAC champion, Daugherty won the outdoor national championship in the pole vault in 2012.
 
In the classroom, Daugherty was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American and earned a spot on the PSAC Top 10 in 2011-12.
 
Daugherty earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Slippery Rock in 2012.
