Zack Patterson enters his second season as a full-time member of The Rock's coaching staff in 2015. Patterson serves as recruiting coordinator and quarterbacks coach on George Mihalik’s staff.
In 2014, Patterson helped guide a stable of Rock quarterbacks that completed 61.3 percent of their passes (250-for-408) for 27 touchdowns and 2,955 yards. Senior quarterback Jared Buck was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 PSAC Championship game.
Patterson's duties in 2013 included tutoring The Rock's running backs for the second consecutive season and coaching the tight ends for the first time as well as assisting with recruiting, scouting reports and the compilation of weekly game plans.
He helped guide Shamar Greene to All-PSAC honors after a 727 yard season that included 11.3 yards per carry and four touchdowns. He also worked with Teddy Blakeman, who led the team in rushing touchdowns with 14.
Patterson joined The Rock staff in 2012 after completing a three-year career at Grove City College. As a senior, Patterson started all 10 games at defensive end and led the team with 5.5 quarterback sacks en route to being named as an honorable mention All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference performer.
As a junior, Patterson played in 10 games and started nine at defensive end. He was second on the team with 3.5 sacks and helped the Wolverines lead the PAC in total defense.
Patterson also played in all 10 games as a sophomore, a season in which he recorded two sacks.
Patterson was a Dean’s List student and was named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll.
