Vic Campagna begins his 31st season on the Slippery Rock University football coaching staff and 23rd season as offensive coordinator. He assumed the offensive reigns from Dr. George Mihalik when the latter was named as head coach in 1987.
Coach Campagna is one of two assistant coaches who have served alongside Mihalik for all 153 wins recorded by SRU since 1988. Campagna is responsible for developing the offensive game plan while also working with the team’s quarterbacks. Three of his former players have attained All-American status as signal callers.
A graduate of Lock Haven University, Campagna came to The Rock after serving 10 seasons on the staff at Portage High School. He was Portage’s head coach for five seasons after serving as an assistant coach in both football and basketball.
Campagna earned his master’s degree in physical education from SRU in 1982 and has served as the health and physical education department’s co-chairman. He retired in the summer of 2007 after serving as an assistant professor in the department.
He and his wife, Monica, are the parents of two children: Tad, a former Rock quarterback, and Jodi, a 1997 graduate of SRU. Vic and Monica are also proud of five grandchildren.
