2024 Summer Camp and Clinic Info

As summer camp and clinic dates and planning for 2024 is finalized, that information will be posted to this page. Camps are listed in chronological order beginning with the first camp of the summer, so make sure you scroll through the full list of available camps if you are searching for a specific sport.
 
For information on each of the summer camp opportunities available at Slippery Rock University, contact the coaches listed below each respective camp. Any registration forms or other links related to the camps will be posted on this page as they become available.


ROCK FOOTBALL RELENTLESS PROSPECT CAMP #1

Time: 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Mihalik-Thompson Stadium
For: All players entering grades 9-12 in fall 2024
Description: Showcase your abilities and get evaluated by the Slippery Rock coaching staff! You will learn how to play your position with technique and fundamentals while competing against some of the top talent in the area. Event will consist of athletic testing, agility stations, position specific drills and one-on-ones. This is an unpadded camp, only cleats are required! Registration in advance preferred, but walk-ups will be welcomed.

SRU CO-ED VOLLEYBALL CAMP (CAMP IS FULL FOR 2024)

Dates: June 7-9
Times: Friday: 3-9 p.m. Saturday: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday: 7 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.
Location: Aebersold Student Recreation Center
For: Adults age 21 and up
Description: The camp offers a solid program that combines individual and team skill development, while providing campers with the opportunities to train at their own level. The enrollment for the camp is limited to 80 athletes in order to provide a positive, quality experience for each camper.
Cost: Resident: $250 (Includes instruction, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), lodging, and a camp t-shirt). Commuter: $225 (Includes, instruction, lunch and dinner only, and a camp shirt).

ROCK WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GIRLS YOUTH CLINIC

Dates: June 17-19
Times: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Location: Morrow Field House
For: Girls in grades first through eighth
Description: The clinic gives up-and-coming girls basketball players the opportunity to focus on improving their fundamentals and skills while learning from Slippery Rock coaches and players. Instruction will focus on ball handling, passing and shooting, as well as offensive and defensive concepts that will be taught through stations, contests and games. 
Cost: $120 (40 per day)

SRU CROSS COUNTRY / DISTANCE RUNNING CAMP

Dates: June 23-26
For: Boys and Girls Ages 12-18 (rising grades 8-12)
Description: The camp will serve as an early preseason conditioning camp for individuals or teams. Training in camp will be designed to lay the foundation for a successful summer training block. Athletes will learn mechanics and drills, race planning and implementation, strength and conditioning and mental toughness to navigate training and racing.
Cost: $400 (overnight) / $350 (commuter)

ROCK MEN'S BASKETBALL CO-ED YOUTH SKILLS CLINIC #1

Check In: 8:30 a.m. (both days)
Location: Morrow Field House
For: Athletes entering grades 3-8 in fall 2024 (co-ed)
Description: Clinic participants will receive individual skill development and will learn team concepts from the current SRU men's basketball coaching staff and student-athletes.
Cost: $80 per session (two days) or $120 for both clinics (four total days - June 24-25 and August 1-2)

SRU POLE VAULTERS CAMP

Dates: June 27-29
For: Boys and Girls Ages 12-18 (rising grades 8-12)
Description: One of the top pole vault camps in the area that has developed hundreds of collegiate pole vaulters and some of the top vaulters in the state over the last 30+ seasons. Campers will learn vaulting and training techniques from some of the best pole vault coaches in the region with Brady Rhoades and his staff from The Vault Shack leading the group along with Tim Tray of Vault Athletics.
Cost: $425 (overnight) / $350 (commuter)

SRU THROWERS WEEKEND CAMP

Dates: June 28-30
For: Boys and Girls Ages 12-18 (rising grades 8-12)
Description: High quality, in-depth coverage of the discus, shot put and javelin, as well as a brief introduction to the hammer. Campers will learn warm-up drills, throwing drills and technique progressions in all three events. Sessions will include weightlifting, plyometrics, medicine ball workouts and other drills directly related to throwing.
Cost: $375 (overnight) / $300 (commuter)

SRU JUMPERS WEEKEND CAMP

Dates: June 28-30
For: Boys and Girls Ages 12-18 (rising grades 8-12)
Description: High quality, in-depth coverage of the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Campers can choose a jump to specialize in or can gain a wide breadth of knowledge for all jumps. The camp will include seven instructional sessions and one video lecture session on jumping technique and other topics directly relate to jumping. Camp will include weightlifting, plyometrics and speed and power development.

SRU SPRINTERS & HURDLERS WEEKEND CAMP

Dates: June 28-30
For: Boys and Girls Ages 12-18 (rising grades 8-12)
Description: Three-day camp that covers advances sprinting and hurdling techniques. Athletes will work on warm-up drills, hurdle drills, starts, techniques for high and intermediate hurdles and will go through sessions on weightlifting, plyometrics, aquatic workouts and other topics directly related to sprinting and hurdling.

SRU VOLLEYBALL GIRL’S SKILLS CAMP (CAMP IS FULL FOR 2024)

Dates: July 7-10
Times: First Day Schedule: 12-9:30 p.m., Weekday Schedule: 7:15 a.m. – 9:30 p.m., Last Day: 7:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Location: Aebersold Recreation Center and Morrow Field House
For: All girls in grades 6-12
Description: Under the direction of Laurie Lokash, Slippery Rock University women’s head volleyball coach, the Girl’s Individual Volleyball Camp will provide attendees with instruction from top area high school and college coaches and college players. The camp offers a solid
program that combines instruction on individual and team skills while providing attendees with an opportunity to train at their own level.
Cost: Resident - $350 (Includes camp instruction, access to facilities, overnight accommodations, all meals, & a camp t-shirt), Commuter - $325 (Includes camp instruction, access to facilities, lunch & dinner and a camp t-shirt)
Limit: Enrollment for the camp is capped at 144 participants.

SRU GIRL’S TEAM VOLLEYBALL CAMP

Dates: July 10-12
Location: Aebersold Student Recreation Center and Morrow Field House
For: A team is defined as a minimum of seven players (preferably eight to 10) from the same school or club who can play all required positions. It is recommended that no more than 12 players comprise a team. Each team must be accompanied by a coach.
Description: The team camp will provide attendees with instruction from top area high school and college coaches. The SRU volleyball coaching staff is committed to training athletes by providing each player with the opportunity to learn and enhance the fundamental skills of volleyball. We teach the game by providing quality instruction in conjunction with competitive opportunities. The objective of the camp, in addition to skill development, is to emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork and fun.
Cost: $200/player (commuter) / $215/player (resident)

SRU SOFTBALL PROSPECT CAMP

Dates: July 16, 2024
Times: 9:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Location: Morrow Field House and Dr. James P McFarland Recreational Sports Complex (MAC Intramural Fields).
For: High school girls, entering ninth grade and up
Description: Prospect camp is geared towards prospective student-athletes who are interested in Rock softball and want to improve their skills. The camp includes hitting, pitching, catching and infield/outfield drills.
Cost: $75 for the hitting clinic, $65 for pitching and $35 each for catching, infield and outfield clinics per day.

FIELD HOCKEY DAY CAMP

Times: 8 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Location: Mihalik-Thompson Stadium
For: Current high school seniors and younger (all genders)
Description: The camp offers a solid program that combines individual and team skill development, while providing campers with the opportunities to train at their own level. Two field sessions will be provided as well as a film session and a campus tour and/or admissions Q&A.

ROCK WOMEN'S SOCCER ID CLINIC

Dates: July 27-28
Times: 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. (July 27) and 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. (July 28)
Location: Mihalik-Thompson Stadium
For: Players entering ninth grade and up
Description: The clinic is designed to totally immerse high school students from ninth grade and up in the competitive environment of women's collegiate soccer. Participants will receive valuable exposure in focused and detail-oriented, yet enjoyable sessions, and will be given the opportunity to work closely with college coaches.
Cost: $240-280 (two days, early bird pricing ends June 1), $150-190 (Sunday only, early bird pricing ends June 1)
