I couldn’t picture going through college and not being a student-athlete. It is all I have known since I was in middle school. I think over the years it has really increased the way I have performed in the classroom due to the fact that my grades wouldn’t just reflect me, but also the team and the university.
In a way the team became like family. Many of our families lived many hours away, while others lived close so it was nice to be able to have teammates’ parents become your own. Being a student-athlete at Slippery Rock was rewarding to me. Due to my time on the court as a varsity volleyball player, I was able to join clubs that allowed me to travel the world to share athletics with less fortunate children.
I grew as a teammate, a player & as a person through participating in Slippery Rock athletics.
