LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's cross country team finished second in the Crimson Race and third in the White Race at the LHU Invitational Saturday at the West Branch XC Course.
 
The Rock women took second in the seeded race with 123 points. Northwood won the event with 120 points, edging SRU by just three points. Bloomsburg was third with 146 points, followed by Grove City with 150 points and Messiah with 159 points. The race included 22 teams and 183 runners.  
 
SRU then took third in the unseeded race with 85 points. The Pitt Club team won with 46 points, followed by Messiah in second with 62 points. The White Race included 20 teams and 176 runners.
 
Carissa Flynn led the way for SRU in the Crimson Race with a fifth place finish in 21:42. Marabelle Thornberry followed in 22nd in 22:45 and Brynleigh Moody was 33rd in 23:07.
 
Hannah Burgoon was 56th in 23:36 and Adi Jackson rounded out the scorers in 59th place in 23:43.
 
Kayla Hanna was 79th in 24:01. Rylie Teapole was 87th in 24:10 and Kaydence Wisner was 102nd in 24:27 to round out the eight entries in the seeded race.
 
Lila Miller led the way in the White Race with a second place finish in 23:18. Kayla Flanigan was fifth in 23:41.  
 
A look at all of the SRU results from Saturday can be found below. The Rock will take next week off before returning to action Oct. 10 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
