MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The 11th ranked Slippery Rock University football team scored touchdowns on 10 straight possessions and put up more than 700 yards of offense on the way to a 70-10 win at Millersville University Saturday.
 
The Rock improve to 3-0 with their 12th straight win in the series against Millersville, which drops to 0-3 on the year.
 
Slippery Rock scored touchdowns on its first 10 offensive possessions on the way to recording one of the best offensive showcases in program history. The 70 points were the 11th most in a game for the program and the 703 total yards was just shy of the all-time program record of 795 yards, set in 2017 against Seton Hill.
 
Running back JayJay Jordan ran for five touchdowns to tie the program single-game scoring record, matching Mike Kish and Marcus Johnson with five touchdowns in a single game.
 
Slippery Rock finished with a 703-231 advantage in total offense after throwing for 363 yards and rushing for 340 yards. Millersville threw for 212 yards, but was limited to just 19 rushing yards on 20 carries.
 
DaOne Owens put together his second straight nearly flawless game at the QB position, completing 20-of-25 passes for 307 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions while also rushing for 55 yards on two carries in limited work. Brad Hoffman played most of the third and fourth quarters and went 4-for-6 for 56 yards with one TD. David Bahm then played the final two drives of the fourth quarter and ran for 33 yards after also throwing a two-point conversion to kicker Connor Macek earlier in the game.
 
Jordan ran for 142 yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries, averaging 6.8 yards per carry. He also caught one pass for 11 yards to finish with 153 yards of offense and five touchdowns.
 
Luke McCoy ran for 55 yards and one touchdown on just six carries. Marco Cirigliano ran for 31 yards on nine carries and Dominic Berarducci ran for 20 yards.
 
Hamilton Gates led the receivers with four catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns, marking his first career 100-yard game and scoring his first touchdowns while also getting his first start. Ethan Trettel added four catches for 59 yards and one score, Vincent Berardi caught six passes for 55 yards, John Sabo grabbed three passes for 47 yards, Jahmil Perryman had a 28-yard catch, Lou Swartz had a 24-yard grab and Qalil Goode caught an eight-yard TD for his first career touchdown.
 
The Rock defense was dominant all day with the starting unit only allowing one field goal as time expired in the first half. JuJu Johnson, who moved from receiver to defensive back this week, led the unit with five tackles and one sack. Teddy Gregory Jr. also had five tackles, one tackle for loss and one forced fumble, which was recovered by Carmen Metcalfe. Jacob Snow and Aaron Scales Jr. each had four tackles, John Frangos had one sack and Brian Young Jr. was credited with three QB hurries.
 
Millersville QB Ryan Zeltt completed 16-of-26 passes for 137 yards. Eddie Corkery played the final drive and went 2-for-3 for 75 yards with one touchdown, which was caught by Jayden Walters, who finished with 103 yards and one TD.
 
Saturday marked the end of the early non-conference schedule for Slippery Rock, which will open PSAC West play on the road next Saturday with a noon kickoff at California (Pa.). That game will mark the third straight road game for SRU, which will be the first time SRU has played three consecutive road games in the regular season since 1995.
 
GAME NOTES: Slippery Rock improved to 22-4-1 all-time against Millersville and won its 12th straight game in the series … head coach Shawn Lutz improved to 91-25 at SRU … the 703 yards of offense was the first 700+ yard game by an SRU team since putting up the single-game record of 795 yards against Seton Hill Nov. 4, 2017 … RB JayJay Jordan tied the SRU record for touchdowns in a game with five … Jordan extended his current streak to nine straight games with at least one TD … Jordan had his ninth game with at least 100 rushing yards in his last 13 games … John Sabo extended his games with a catch streak to 12 … Hamilton Gates (2 TD) and Qalil Goode (1 TD) both scored their first career touchdowns at SRU … the 70 points scored were the 11th most in a game in SRU history and marked the second time SRU has scored at least 70 points against Millersville … SRU played three quarterbacks in the game and all three accounted for points with DaOne Owens (3 TD), Brad Hoffman (1 TD) and David Bahm (2-pt conversion) all getting on the scoresheet … SRU did not punt in the game … SRU did not turn the ball over for the third straight game this season.
