CLINTON, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's cross country team took fifth at the RMU Colonial Invitational hosted by Robert Morris University Friday morning at the Youthtowne Fields XC Course.
 
Division I West Virginia University took the team title with 36 points ahead of hosting Robert Morris in second with 43 points. Nationally ranked Division III squad Carnegie Mellon was third with 64 points, followed by Division I Youngstown State in fourth with 80 points. Slippery Rock was the top Division II school in the race in fifth with 165 points. The Rock finished ahead of a trio of Division I schools, including Wright State, St. Bonaventure and Duquesne.
 
Carissa Flynn led The Rock with a 16th place finish and was the highest placed Division II runner in the field after covering the 6,000-meter course in 23:15.99.
 
Kayla Hanna was the next scorer for SRU in 34th place in 24:23. Marabelle Thornberry followed in 37th place in 24:33. Freshmen Caroline Wilson and Kaydence Wisner rounded out the five scorers with Wilson placing 39th in 24:37 and Wisner finishing 55th in 25:02.
 
Brynleigh Moody was 56th in 25:04 and Adi Jackson rounded out the top seven finishers in 59th in 25:09.

The Rock will take next week off before returning to action Sept. 26 at the Lock Haven Invite.
