SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University wrestling head coach Jeff Breese has announced the active recruiting period for The Rock wrestling program has opened as he works to build a roster for the launch of Division II wrestling at SRU in 2027-28.
 
"I'm thrilled to be here and really looking forward to this next year of recruiting and laying the foundation for the return of wrestling at Slippery Rock," said Breese. "I encourage any wrestlers interested in being part of something special next year to fill out the recruiting form to get on our radar."
 
Prospective student-athletes can fill out the recruiting form linked at the top of this page to join the recruiting database. Breese will also be actively recruiting high school and transfer students throughout the region and nation during the upcoming 2026-27 wrestling season.

ABOUT SLIPPERY ROCK WRESTLING
Slippery Rock announced in November of 2025 that the University would be bringing back NCAA men's wrestling in 2027-28. The Rock had an NCAA wrestling team from 1958-2006 with many of those teams competing at the NCAA Division I level. The program will return to varsity status in the fall of 2027 at the NCAA Division II level, aligning with the rest of the current SRU athletic teams. Former Army West Point director of wrestling development Jeff Breese was hired as head coach of the program and began his tenure July 1, 2026 with a full year to recruit and build the foundation for the program before competition begins in 2027-28.
