SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team earned a 4-0 victory over West Chester University in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament Monday at the SRU Tennis Courts.

The victory, Slippery Rock's fourth in as many matches, improves SRU's record to 13-3 overall while West Chester's season ends with the Golden Rams holding a 9-10 record.

Monday's win sends The Rock into the PSAC Tournament semifinals Friday against the winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal match between East Stroudsburg and Edinboro. Slippery Rock will be making its seventh consecutive appearance in the semifinal round of the PSAC Tournament.

Slippery Rock punched its latest ticket to the PSAC Tournament semifinals by capturing the doubles point and earning three victories from the top of its singles lineup as part of The Rock's eighth shutout of the year.

The Rock's postseason run officially started with back-to-back 6-0 victories from the second and third doubles flights as
Amaia Balaguer Brau and
Tina Slovak bested Alex Cave and Ashleigh Grooms, while
Dari Sakhanova and
Nadia Rodewald defeated Sohana Thompson and Felicia Manful.

Balaguer Brau and Slovak head to the semifinals having won six consecutive matches which have improved their record to 18-4. Rodewald and Sakhanova continue to be near unbeatable in the third flight as evidenced by a 21-2 record in 2025-26.

The first flight doubles match between SRU's
Alissia Kivi and
Nicole Kempton and WCU's Delaney Tingle and Brigitte Gravelle was halted once The Rock clinched the doubles point. Kivi and Kempton were leading 5-1.

Kivi and Kempton did generate points for Slippery Rock to open the singles portion of the match. Kivi – the No. 71 athlete in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings – defeated Grooms (6-2, 6-1) and Kivi bettered Gravelle (6-1, 6-1).

As Slippery Rock's second and third flight entries, Kivi has rattled off six consecutive wins to improve to 22-4 and Kempton has taken victories in her last four outings to push her record on the year to 18-6.

Balaguer Brau sealed Slippery Rock's PSAC Tournament win courtesy of a 6-2, 6-4 victory from the first flight against Tingle. Balaguer Brau, the two-time PSAC West Athlete of the Year, is now 19-7 overall and on a four-match winning streak.

With the match already decided, the fourth, fifth and sixth flights were halted. The Rock's trio of Slovak, Sakhanova and Rodewald were leading in all three bouts.

Slippery Rock's PSAC Tournament semifinal contest against either East Stroudsburg or Edinboro is set for a 1 p.m. start Friday at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on the campus in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
