SLIPPERY ROCK - EDINBORO ROUND 1 (Box Score)
Slippery Rock erased an 11-point deficit with six minutes to play in regulation to force overtime, but couldn't complete its comeback bid in an 82-75 loss Jan. 28 at Edinboro.

Brady Mayo paced The Rock by going for a season-high 18 points. Mayo, who also grabbed four rebounds and made one steal, has now scored at least 12 points in three consecutive games.

Kerwin Prince and Dame Givner each joined Mayo with double-digit scoring performances prior to fouling out at 16 and 15 points, respectively. Prince also pulled down seven rebounds, passed out three assists and made one steal. Givner collected six rebounds in addition to three assists and one steal of his own.

Slippery Rock closed the night shooting 44.4 percent (28-of-63) from the field overall and 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from 3-point range, but just 66.7 percent (14-of-21) at the foul line.

Edinboro shot 41.8 percent (28-of-67) from the field overall and 34.6 percent (9-of-26) from distance while converting 17-of-22 (.773) free throw attempts. The Fighting Scots held a +4 (43-39) rebounding margin while scoring 20 points off 12 Rock turnovers.

RECORDS
Slippery Rock welcomes the Fighting Scots Wednesday holding a 15-11 overall record and an 8-10 mark inside the PSAC West. While just 13-12 overall, Edinboro sits above The Rock in the PSAC West standings via a 9-9 league record.

LAST TIME OUT
Slippery Rock trimmed a 19-points deficit in the second half to just two points, but couldn't complete its comeback bid in a 67-59 home loss to Seton Hill. Edinboro provided itself with separation in the PSAC standings by way of an 85-77 victory over California.

PSAC STANDINGS UPDATE
With two games remaining in the regular season there are still four remaining bids into the PSAC Tournament to be decided: three from the Western Division and one out of the Eastern Division.

• The top six teams in both the Western Division and Eastern Division standings at the end of the regular season qualify for the PSAC Tournament.

• The first and second seeds in the standings earn first-round byes and a home game in the quarterfinal round while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds are guaranteed home games in the first round.

• The three tournament bids out of the PSAC West that are accounted for belong to Gannon (17-1), California (15-3) and IUP (15-3). The Golden Knights, Vulcans and Crimson Hawks will be the top three seeds in the division with only the order of seeding to be decided.

• The remaining three berths into the conference tournament out of the Western Division will be decided between Edinboro (9-9), Seton Hill (8-10), The Rock (8-10) and Clarion (7-11). Pitt-Johnstown is the lone team in the PSAC West to be mathematically eliminated from the postseason.

• With two games remaining in the regular season and everyone still bunched closely together, there are a variety of ways that each of The Rock, Fighting Scots, Griffins and Golden Eagles can play their ways in – or out – of the PSAC Tournament.

• Slippery Rock can clinch its PSAC Tournament berth Wednesday with a victory over Edinboro combined with a Clarion loss at nationally ranked Gannon (GU beat Clarion, 91-73, earlier in the season). If that happens SRU would have nine conference victories and Clarion could get no more than eight wins in the conference through the end of the season.

• In the PSAC East, West Chester (14-5), Millersville (14-6), East Stroudsburg (13-6), Shepherd (13-6) and Shippensburg (8-11) have all clinched berths.

• Lock Haven (5-14) occupies sixth place in the PSAC East standings and needs to win one of its final two games to secure the final berth in the Eastern Division. Bloomsburg (4-15) and Kutztown (3-16) are also mathematically still alive in the PSAC East.

• SRU has qualified for the PSAC Tournament in eight of the last nine years. SRU has hosted opening-round tournament games in each of the last two years.

A PATH TO STAY HOME FOR THE FIRST ROUND
While The Rock's primary concern is first qualifying for the PSAC Tournament, a path does exist for SRU to still host an opening-round game in the conference tournament despite winning just two of its last 10 games.

For Slippery Rock to earn the fourth seed out of the Western Division, which would in turn give it a first-round home game at Morrow Field House March 2 against the PSAC West's fifth seed, a specific chain of results needs to happen.

1. Slippery Rock: Win each of their final two games (vs. Edinboro, at California) to finish 10-10 in PSAC games.
2. Edinboro: Lose its final two games (at Slippery Rock, at Seton Hill) to finish 9-11 in the PSAC.
3. Seton Hill: Defeat Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday and lost to Edinboro in its season finale to finish 9-11 in the PSAC.

• Slippery must finish ahead of Edinboro and Seton Hill as both the Fighting Scots and Seton Hill would win tiebreakers in this scenario:
• Seton Hill went 2-0 against SRU this year in the season series.
• If The Rock and Edinboro finish tied the Fighting Scots would get the nod over SRU. If Edinboro and Slippery Rock split the season series, the second tiebreaker in the PSAC manual is "Record vs. top seeded conference division team(s) progressing down until the tie is broken." SRU and Edinboro both went 0-2 against IUP and Gannon. If SRU wins out both The Rock and Edinboro would be 1-1 vs. California, but Edinboro would be 1-1 vs. Seton Hill while SRU is 0-2 against the Griffins.
• In the event that Edinboro, Seton Hill and Slippery Rock all finish with the same record then Seton Hill would claim the tiebreaker for the fourth seed.

SETON HILL RECAP (Box Score)
Slippery Rock cut a 19-point deficit down to just two points with 20 seconds left in regulation, but couldn't quite complete the impressive comeback bid in a 67-59 loss to Seton Hill on Senior Day Feb. 21 at Morrow Field House.

Following a disastrous opening 20 minutes in which anything that could go wrong seemingly did, Slippery Rock found itself trailing the Griffins 34-18 entering the second half only for Seton Hill to push its lead out even further to 19 points at 40-21 with 18 minutes left in regulation.

Slippery Rock showed commendable fight and methodically chipped away at the sizable deficit through the next 17 minutes to play its way back into the game with an Austin layup eventually capping a 38-21 Rock spurt that cut Seton Hill's lead down to just two points (61-59) with 20 second to play only for the Griffins to make four consecutive free throws and a final layup while holding The Rock scoreless on their final two possessions in the game's waning moments to escape with the narrow road win.

BIG NIGHT ON THE OFFENSIVE GLASS FOR PRINCE
Kerwin Prince's eight offensive rebounds against Seton Hill were tied for the second most in a single-game by a Rock player since the 2018-19 season. Since then – a stretch 201 games. During that time the only time a Rock athlete has grabbed more than eight offensive rebounds in a game was Tyler Frederick's 10 against California (Pa.) in 2021-22.

10 STRAIGHT AT THE LINE FOR MAYO
Brady Mayo converted both of his foul shots against Seton Hill and now enters the Edinboro game having made each of his last 10 attempts at the free throw line.

The 10 straight free throws have upped Mayo's percentage at the line to 85.9 percent - the third best percentage in the PSAC. If the season ended today, Mayo would own the fourth best single-season free throw percentage in program history (minimum 75 attempts).

Top Single-Season FT% at SRU (Min. 75 Attempts)

THE ROCK ROSTER
Slippery Rock has had 14 athletes play in games throughout varying stages of the season while using 11 different starting rotations.

• Isaac James, Brady Mayo, RJ Sledge and Mack Staunch are the lone members of the roster to have appeared in all 26 games this season.

• A senior transfer from Salem University, James has averaged 10.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in his lone season with The Rock.

• Mayo and Sledge are both true freshman guards. Mayo averages 10.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Sledge provides SRU with 7.5 points, 2.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals a contest.

• Mayo has scored 10 or more points in seven of his last nine games and now ranks ninth on SRU's single-season freshmen scoring ledger (266).

• Sledge, a starter in 15 straight games, ranks 18th in the PSAC in both steals and assist-turnover ratio (1.4). In terms of SRU single-season rookie rankings, Sledge ranks fourth on the list in assists, seventh in steals and seventh in made 3-poitners.

• One of SRU's primary reserve forwards, Staunch has collected 24 offensive rebounds on the year.

• Dame Givner has started 25 games this year. SRU's No. 3 freshman scorer all-time, Givner averages 15.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He shoots 44.6 percent from the field, 37 percent from 3-point range and 79.2 percent at the foul line.

• Sheick Samoura has been used primarily as a reserve in his 23 games played this season. His 22 blocks still rank 12th in the PSAC. Samoura also averages 7.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

• One of the top newcomers in the entire PSAC, Kerwin Prince has started 11 of 20 games this season. A premier interior presence, the University of New Orleans transfer has six double-doubles on the season en route to averaging 12.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Prince ranks third in the PSAC in field goal percentage at 59.9 percent.

• Backup forward Enire Bowens has already set career-highs in games played (17), rebounds (21), points (10) and steals (3).

• Elijah Hill was off to a great start to his redshirt freshman year before a mid-season injury sidelined the promising prospect for 10 games. Hill, who has earned per game averages of 10.1 points and 6.1 rebounds on the season overall while shooting 64.1 percent from the field, made his return to the rotation against Seton Hill.

• Ike Herster appeared in 14 of SRU's first 17 games this season with per game averages of 12.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Herster, who is closing in on 1,000 points in a Rock uniform, has shot 43.7 percent overall, 37.3 percent from 3-point range and 84.3 percent at the foul line.

• One of the top options for off the bench for The Rock is redshirt freshman guard Braylon Littlejohn. Over 13 games this season, Littlejohn has averaged 5.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He's a 48.9 percent shooter from the field.

• A four-year member of the program, guard Alex Griggs is a veteran of 55 collegiate games including nine this campaign. Two of his four longest stretches of playing time in 2026 have come in SRU's last two games.

• Maceo Austin and freshman Kent Hairston have both played in three games this year. One of the most talented athletes in the Atlantic Region, Austin is a career 16.7 points per game scorer who has averaged 14.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals a game in 2025-26.

DANGEROUS DUO
In their lone season playing together, Kerwin Prince and Isaac James have proven to be formidable forward duo for The Rock. Prince averages 12.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 59.9 percent from the field. James adds 10.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game to go with a .487 field goal percentage.

Just as impressive is the work on the offensive glass that Prince and James do. Slippery Rock is the only team in the PSAC with two athletes ranked among the league's top 12 offensive rebounders in Prince (3rd / 3.4 orpg) and James (12th / 2.2 orpg).

Only one other Rock pairing have combined to average more offensive rebounds per game than Prince and James over the last six seasons: Tyler Frederick and Jonathan McFall averaged 6.5 orpg in 2021-22.

Top Offensive Rebounds Duo at SRU (Since 2019-20)
1. Tyler Frederick / Jonathan McFall (2021-22): 6.5
2. Kerwin Prince / Isaac James (2025-26): 5.6
3. Will Robinson Jr. / Micah Till (2019-20): 4.6
4. Lashon Lindsey / Maceo Austin (2023-24): 4.4

GET A LEAD, KEEP A LEAD
Slippery Rock is a perfect 15-0 in 2025-26 when holding a lead or being tied at halftime, but 0-11 when trailing after 20 minutes. Edinboro led SRU 40-35 at halftime of the Jan. 28 meeting.

WORKING OVERTIME
The Slippery Rock - Edinboro game on Jan. 28 marked the second overtime game of the season for SRU, and 12th during head coach Ian Grady's 201-game tenure overall.

KEEP IT UNDER 80
Slippery Rock is a near perfect 14-1 when holding opponents to under 80 points, but just 1-10 in high-scoring (80+) contests. The lone time a team hasn't reached 80 points and still managed to beat The Rock was in SRU's last time out against Seton Hill (67-59). Edinboro has been held under 80 points in 13 games this season overall, going just 2-11 in such contests.

CLEARING 15 WINS
Already assured of finishing the year with a winning record for the 16th time in the last 17 completed seasons as a program - including each of the last seven years under head coach Ian Grady - Slippery Rock needs one more win this year to give The Rock 16 victories, which would represent the fourth-highest win total for SRU under Grady.

If Slippery Rock were to win its final two games of the regular season it would enter the PSAC Tournament having matched the program's second highest win total over the last seven completed seasons.

HERSTER CLOSING IN ON SCORING MILESTONE
Ike Herster needs to score five points to become the 26th athlete in program history to score 1,000 points in a Rock uniform.

While Herster is nearing SRU 1,000-point milestone, he's already scored 1,366 points in the totality of his college career between his time at SRU and Gannon.

His 995 points in a Rock uniform also represent the sixth highest point total by a transfer to come to SRU in program history. Herster also ranks seventh in program history in career 3-pointers with 116 - seven away from passing Jared Armstrong (2018-20) for sixth place.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING SCOTS
• Edinboro comes to Slippery Rock having won five of its last eight games, including an 85-77 upset of California its last time out, which has vaulted the Fighting Scots into sole possession of fourth place in the PSAC West Standings.

• Few teams rely on its 3-point attack more than Edinboro, which enters the week ranked 12th in the country in 3-point attempts per game (28.9) and 32nd in 3-pointers made per game (9.6). The Fighting Scots were 9-for-26 (.346) from distance against SRU earlier in the year.

• The heavy 3-point attempt barrage philosophy has only resulted in the Fighting Scots ranking in the middle of the PSAC in scoring (11th / 78.3).

• While Edinboro ranks 16th in the PSAC in turnovers forced per game (10.6), no team in the conference does a better job of maintaining its possession then the Fighting Scots who lead the league with just 10.0 miscues a game.
