STUDENT GATE PROCEDURES
Students should bring their valid ID to enter the game through the student gate. Students can also show their CORE app at the gate. Only CURRENT students will be allowed to enter through the student gate. To speed up entry into the game, students should make sure to have their ID ready before getting to the gate.

BEER GARDEN WILL BE OPEN
Slippery Rock will partner with the North Country Brewing Company to operate a beer garden inside the stadium this year for home SRU football games. The beer garden will be located on the runoff of the track opposite the scoreboard end of the stadium. All patrons must be 21+ to enter the beer garden and all alcoholic beverages must be purchased and consumed in the beer garden. Sales will begin when stadium gates open at 4:30 p.m. and conclude at the kickoff of the third quarter.Â

No. 8 Slippery Rock reaches the midpoint of the regular season and welcomes an upstart Seton Hill program that is riding high after posting a 29-0 shutout over California (Pa.) last week.

Slippery Rock owns a 14-2 advantage in the all-time series against Seton Hill that dates back to 2007. The Rock have won the last nine straight meetings in the series, including a 49-7 win on the road in Greensburg last fall. SRU is 7-0 at home in the series with the only two losses both coming on the road in 2008 and 2015. The Rock have scored at least 30 points in 14 straight games in the series and have topped 40 points in 10 of 16 meetings.

COACHING MATCHUP
Slippery Rock head coach
Shawn Lutz is in his 31st overall year at The Rock and his 11th year (10th season) as head coach, where he owns a 93-25 record with nine straight winning seasons, five PSAC West titles and six trips to the NCAA playoffs. Lutz was the PSAC West Coach of the Year in 2018, 2019 and 2023 and was the Don Hansen Football Gazette Division II National Coach of the Year in 2019. The 93 wins are the most among all PSAC West head coaches since the 2016 season. Lutz was an assistant at SRU for 20 years before taking over the program in 2016. He has been a member of the coaching staff for 13 of SRU's 20 PSAC West titles. Lutz played tight end at West Virginia University, graduating in 1996, and earned a master's degree from SRU in 2003.

Kevin May is in his eighth season on the staff at Seton hill and his second as head coach. He went 4-7 last year in his first season and is off to a 2-3 start this fall for a 6-10 overall record. Prior to taking over as head coach, May spent six seasons as the defensive coordinator at Seton Hill. He got his start in coaching serving as a defensive assistant at his Alma Mater, Occidental College, before spending two years as a GA at Wyoming and four seasons as a defensive assistant at Texas A&M Kingsville. May played safety and outside linebacker at Occidental.

Slippery Rock held steady at No. 8 in the AFCA Division II national poll and stayed at No. 9 in the D2football.com poll this week. Seton Hill is unranked. Both national polls are available on page nine of the PDF notes linked above.

15 UNBEATENS LEFT
Slippery Rock enters this week as one of just 15 teams left in Division II without a loss. Three of those 15 teams are in the PSAC, with Eastern Division leader Kutztown and Western Division co-leader Indiana (Pa.) also owning 5-0 records.

ONE WIN AWAY FROM ANOTHER WINNING SEASON
Slippery Rock has put together a winning season in each of the last 16 years, which ranks ninth among all Division II programs for the longest active winning seasons streak in the country. The only other program in the PSAC with more consecutive winning seasons currently is California (Pa.), which has strung together 21 winning seasons entering 2026. With one more win this fall, The Rock will be guaranteed of a 17
th straight winning season.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
Rock football teams have compiled a 201-71 (.739) record in 51+ seasons at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium (formerly known as N. Kerr Thompson Stadium). The Rock own a 101-26 (.794) home record since artificial turf was installed in the summer of 2003 and are 97-20 (.829) in home games since 2005. The numbers get even better in recent years, as The Rock are 79-11 (.878) at home since the beginning of the 2010 season and 67-8 (.893) since the beginning of the 2013 season. SRU is 49-8 (.860) at home under
Shawn Lutz and has never lost more than one home game in a season under Lutz.

50TH WIN UNDER LIGHTS AT MIHALIK-THOMPSON
Last week's win over Gannon was the 50
th home win for SRU under the lights at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The lights were installed prior to the 2003 season and SRU has played 60 total night games since then, going 50-10 in those games.

TURN THE LIGHTS ON
Slippery Rock will play five games start at 4 p.m. or later this fall, including four that start at 6 p.m. or later. Four of those will be home games (Aug. 27, Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Nov. 7) and one will be on the road (Sept. 12). SRU had a streak of 37 straight night game wins snapped with a loss to California (Pa.) last year, but maintains an incredible record when the lights are on. The Rock are 40-1 in their last 41 games that started at 4 p.m. or later, including 3-0 this year. SRU is 50-10 at home since lights were installed at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in 2003.

LUTZ UP TO 12TH ON PSAC WINS LIST

Shawn Lutz won his 93rd game at The Rock last week, which is No. 12 on the all-time PSAC head football coaching wins ledger. Lutz is four wins shy of moving up to No. 11 and nine wins shy of cracking the PSAC all-time top 10 wins list, which includes just 10 men to ever record 100 wins in the conference.

Slippery Rock jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead and rolled to a 49-7 win at Seton Hill last year. The Rock ran for 410 yards and outgained SHU 541-217 in total offense.
JayJay Jordan ran for 189 yards and one touchdown on just 13 carries.
DaOne Owens ran for 79 yards and three TD on the ground and threw for 131 yards with one TD.

Seton Hill dominated traditional PSAC West power California (Pa.) 29-0 at home last week after holding the Vulcans to just 22 total yards of offense. The Griffins put up 491 yards of total offense and overcame four turnovers on the way to a 29-0 win. Boden St. Marie threw for 337 yards with one TD and two INT. Timothy Gaynor ran for 105 yards and two TD. Jayden Llanos caught seven passes for 119 yards. Brayden Darrell had 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks to lead the defense.

• Seton Hill enters the game with a 2-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the PSAC West.
• The Griffins three losses have all come to teams with one or fewer losses, including 4-1 East Stroudsburg (27-20), 5-1 West Liberty (28-24) and 5-0 Indiana (35-7).
• SHU is scoring 20.0 points per game and putting up 301.0 yards of offense per game with 117.2 rushing yards and 183.8 passing yards per game.

FIRST DRIVE TDS
Slippery Rock has scored a touchdown on its opening possession in four of five games so far this season. The Rock scored on a 54-yard pass on their first play in the opener against Minnesota Duluth. SRU then went 71 yards in five plays and scored in 1:43 against East Stroudsburg and went 63 yards in nine plays and scored in 3:32 at Millersville. SRU failed to score on its first possession at Cal, but bounced back with a 9-play, 83-yard scoring drive against Gannon.

SCORING ON CONSECUTIVE DRIVES
Slippery Rock scored points on seven straight drives in the win at East Stroudsburg before taking a knee to end the game. The Rock then scored touchdowns on 10 straight drives against Millersville. SRU put together three straight TD drives to end both halves at Cal and then strung together six straight touchdown drives against Gannon last week.

Slippery Rock enters this week with the No. 2 scoring offense in the country at 52.8 points per game. The Rock are one of just two teams in Division II averaging more than 50 points per game, joining Grand Valley State (55.8).

ONLY EIGHT TOTAL NCAA TEAMS OVER 50 PPG
Slippery Rock is one of only three total NCAA programs across the Division I and Division II levels that are averaging more than 50 points per game this season. From the FBS, the only program averaging more than 50 points currently is the University of Georgia (51.4). No FCS teams are averaging more than 45 points per game. Only Grand Valley State (55.8) and Slippery Rock (52.8) from Division II are averaging over 50 points. There are five Division III teams averaging over 50 points to account for eight total NCAA football programs averaging at least 50 points this year.

Slippery Rock did not turn the ball over last week against Gannon to mark the fourth time in five games this year that SRU has not turned the ball over. The Rock turned it over twice at Cal for only two turnovers on the season. SRU currently ranks No. 2 nationally in fewest turnovers (2) and No. 12 in turnover margin (+1.4 per game).

Luke McCoy has just 15 carries on the season, but has turned those into 147 yards and three touchdowns. McCoy is averaging 9.8 yards per carry.

Ethan Trettel, who walked on to the team three years ago and worked his way up to a scholarship and a starting role this fall, put together the best game of his career last week against Gannon. Trettel caught all eight of his targets for a career-high 118 yards and one TD.

Carson Heckathorn caught a TD pass last week to give The Rock four touchdown catches from the tight end position this year.
Vincent Berardi is second on the team in catches with 19 grabs for 241 yards and three TD. The Rock's tight ends have combined for 297 receiving yards and four touchdowns on the year.

John Sabo caught two passes last week and both went for touchdowns. Sabo now leads all players on the SRU roster with five TD catches on the season to go along with 256 yards. In each of the last two weeks he has pulled down acrobatic highlight-reel catches that led to SRU touchdowns.

A total of 13 different players have caught passes for SRU this year with five players having double digit catches and nine players having multiple grabs on the year.

Evan Harper pulled down two interceptions last week to mark the first two picks of his career. Harper, who transferred into SRU as a wide receiver, made the switch to defense last year and has worked his way into a starting corner role this year. He has 19 tackles, two picks and one pass breakup in four games this year.

Teddy Gregory Jr. leads the SRU defense with 30 total tackles to go along with 2.5 tackles for loss. Gregory forced his second fumble of the season last week and also has an interception and a 61-yard return on the year.

GREGORY NAMED CAMPBELL TROPHY SEMIFINALIST
LB
Teddy Gregory Jr. was named as one of just 19 total players from Division II schools on the national semifinalist list for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy, presented by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. Known as the "Academic Heisman," the honor requires senior student-athletes to own at least a 3.2 GPA, have significant athletic credentials and strong leadership and community service efforts. Gregory owns above a 3.6 GPA while majoring in mechanical engineering in addition to being the top tackler on the SRU defense and a 2025 All-PSAC selection.

JORDAN NAMED TO ALLSTATE AFCA GOOD WORKS TEAM

JayJay Jordan is one of only 22 players from all levels of college football to be named to this year's Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, recognizing his good works off the field and his commitment to community service. Jordan is active in numerous charitable and community service projects, which included traveling to Puerto Rico to help recovery from hurricanes and numerous projects that serve both the SRU community and his hometown community of Reading, Pennsylvania. Jordan is one of only three players from Division II to be named to this year's team and is one of just 11 non-FBS players from all levels to be honored. He will be recognized on the field at the Allstate Sugar Bowl and CFP National Semifinal Jan. 15 at the Superdome in New Orleans.
