Rock claims PSAC West title with 2-0 win at IUP

The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team clinched its second consecutive and sixth PSAC West title overall with a 2-0 victory against IUP Wednesday at South Campus Field.

INDIANA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team clinched its second consecutive and sixth Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division title overall with a 2-0 victory against Indiana University (Pa.) Wednesday at South Campus Field.

With the result, Slippery Rock improved to 14-2-2 overall with a 13-1-2 mark inside the division with the win, while IUP's overall record fell to 7-6-4 and 7-6-3 in the PSAC West with the loss.

Slippery Rock will host a PSAC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup Nov. 3 against the winner of the first-round contest between Millersville University and Bloomsburg. A win in the quarterfinal round would grant The Rock home field advantage at James Egli Field throughout the remainder of the PSAC Tournament.

SRU extended its unbeaten streak with the victory. The Rock's streak now sits at 10 games, just the fifth time in Slippery Rock history an unbeaten streak has reached the double-digit mark.

Lilia Battalini tied the team-lead in goals with her sixth of the season, while Jilly Deivert put home her fifth goal of 2026.

Bailey McGee picked up her team-leading sixth assist on the season, as Peyton Los dished out her second helper of the campaign.

Divert led all players with seven shots and three shots on goal. Battalini (2) and Los (2) were the only other Rock players to take multiple shots.

Leah Allman made three saves to earn her 14th win of the season and the 47th of her career, along with her 27th career clean sheet.

IUP's goalkeeper Kiley Hassinger also made three saves in goal for the Crimson Hawks.

Battalini opened the scoring for The Rock in the 34th minute. SRU took advantage of a corner kick, as McGee's cross came into the near post, where Battalini connected and found a way past Hassinger to the right, giving Slippery Rock a 1-0 advantage.

Coming out of the halftime break, The Rock doubled their advantage of the rush in the 65th minute. Los sent a pass to Deivert on the left wing, as the freshman sped past the defender and slotted in her shot to the bottom right corner, extending Slippery Rock's lead to 2-0.

The Rock then closed out the final 25 minutes to claim a 2-0 victory over the Crimson Hawks.

SRU ended the game with advantages in shots (16-5), shots on goal (5-3) and corner kicks (4-3).

Slippery Rock will be back in action Nov. 3 for a PSAC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup against an opponent to be determined at James Egli Field.
