LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University men's soccer players Tom Roantree and Troy Nine were named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week and Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Roantree, a junior forward from Maidstone, England, and Nine, a junior goalkeeper from Lansdale, Pennsylvania earned Slippery Rock its fourth and fifth PSAC weekly awards this season, while Roantree became the 25th different SRU men's soccer player to win a PSAC weekly award since 2004.

Nine grabbed his third PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week award this season, becoming the first player in Rock since 2004 to claim three PSAC weekly awards in a single season.

Five PSAC weekly awards this season for Slippery Rock's are its most since 2024, when it earned six weekly honors.

Roantree and Nine guided Slippery Rock to a 2-0-0 week where it clinched its first PSAC Tournament berth since 2024 with a 4-0 win versus Pitt-Johnstown.

The Rock also earned their first win over Gannon University since 2015 along with its first win over a team receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll since 2015 with a 3-1 victory at McConnell Family Stadium. SRU's last victory over a Top 25 team was a 2-1 triumph over No. 21 Millersville University in the 2015 PSAC Championship Game.

Roantree began the week with a three-point performance with one goal and one assist in Slippery Rock defeat of Gannon, followed by his first brace at SRU's PSAC Tournament clinching victory over the Mountain Cats.

Nine made two saves in each matchup, claiming his second clean sheet of the season against UPJ and only allowing one goal against Gannon. The Golden Knights have only scored one goal or less in four of its 16 games this season.

On the season, Roantree is third on Slippery Rock with 10 points and four goals. The forward also has two assists on the season on 41.3 minutes per game. Nine has played all but 14 minutes in goal for Slippery Rock this season, holding a 1.26 goals against average and a .710 save percentage on 49 saves and two clean sheets.

Slippery Rock holds a 5-5-6 mark overall with a 3-3-3 record inside the PSAC West and waits for its PSAC Tournament opponent to be determined Thursday. Millersville, West Chester University, Wast Stroudsburg University and Shepherd University all have chance to claim the PSAC East title and a bout with The Rock in the opening round of the conference tournament.

SRU is back in action for its regular season finale with a matchup against Seton Hill University 2 p.m. Thursday at James Egli Field. Earlier this season, Slippery Rock fell to Seton Hill, 2-0, Sept. 23 at Dicks Sporting Goods Field.
