The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team extended its win streak to seven games and retained first place in the PSAC West with a 1-0 victory against California (Pa.) Saturday at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team extended its win streak to seven games and retained first place in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division with a 1-0 victory against California (Pa.) Saturday at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

With the result, Slippery Rock improved to 12-2-1 overall with an 11-1-1 mark inside the division, while California's overall record dropped to 1-10-4 and 1-10-3 in the PSAC West.

Slippery Rock leads the PSAC West with 34 points and three games left in the regular season. Gannon University trails SRU by six points, but has yet to play today as the Golden Knights visit Lock Haven 7 p.m. tonight.

Abby Paterline scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season, including her team-high fifth game-winning goal of the campaign in the 87th minute. Paterline's goal was Slippery Rock's third game-winning goal in the final five minutes of a game in 2026.

Miley Kariotis picked up her first assist of the season on Paterline's goal.

Jilly Deivert led all players with six shots and four shots on goal. Paterline (4) and Bailey McGee (2) also took multiple shots for Slippery Rock.

Leah Allman made one save in her 25th career clean sheet and earned her 45th career win in goal for The Rock.

After a scoreless first half, it looked like Slippery Rock and California were going to play to a 0-0 draw, before Kariotis sent in a cross from the left wing that found the head of Paterline and into the back of the net on SRU's 16th shot of the game.

The Rock then closed out the final three minutes for a 1-0 victory.

Slippery Rock ended the game with advantages in shots (16-4), shots on goal (12-1) and corner kicks (7-2).

SRU is back in action for its final home game of the regular season in a battle for the top spot in the PSAC West against Gannon 3 p.m. Oct. 21 at James Egli Field. Earlier this season, Slippery Rock and Gannon tied, 1-1, Sept. 9 at McConnell Family Stadium.
