SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Slippery Rock University football team set a program record with 458 rushing yards on the way to a 59-14 win over Seton Hill University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game Saturday night from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Rock improve to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC West while Seton Hill drops to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the division.

Slippery Rock's potent offense exploded to the tune of 458 rushing yards and 723 total yards Saturday night in a dominant effort. The 458 rushing yards broke the program's single-game record of 456 yards that was set at East Stroudsburg in 2014. SRU outgained Seton Hill 723-301 in total offense, 458-134 in rushing and 265-167 in passing.

"Give credit to our offensive line and our offensive coaching staff," said head coach Shawn Lutz. "That defense is hard to figure out. They do a lot of things to confuse offenses and they were riding high after shutting out Cal last week and holding them to only 22 yards. For our offense to come out and set a rushing record and have that kind of night says a lot about our offensive line and that entire unit."

Slippery Rock scored on its opening possession for the fifth time in six games this fall and never trailed in the game. The Rock raced out to a 38-7 halftime lead and were never really challenged in the second half.

Running back JayJay Jordan ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries for an average of 14.3 yards per carry. He scored on rushes of 71 and 48 yards and also caught a 26-yard touchdown pass to finish his night with four total touchdowns and 232 yards of total offense.

Quarterback DaOne Owens had his second 100+ yard rushing game of the season and finished with 104 yards and one touchdown on nine carries with a 63-yard TD run. He has recorded at least a 50-yard rush in the last three games. Owens was also 12-of-27 for 227 passing yards with three touchdowns, no interceptions and no sacks.

Luke McCoy made the most of his touches to finish with 70 yards and one touchdown on two carries and 54 receiving yards on one catch. In total, he racked up 124 yards on three touches, averaging 41.3 yards per touch.

Vincent Berardi caught five passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns to lead the receivers. Ethan Trettel added two catches for 41 yards, Carson Heckathorn caught two passes for 38 yards, Hamilton Gates had one 30-yard grab and Jabril Carter ran for 60 yards on a reverse.

Connor Macek booted a 26-yard field goal and had three touchbacks on kickoffs.

Jonah Brown paced the defense with six total tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. Ben Lane and Jacob Snow each had five stops, while Teddy Gregory Jr. and Brian Young Jr. each had four tackles with Young adding 1.0 tackle for loss. Carmen Metcalfe pulled down one interception for the only takeaway of the game. Aaron Scales Jr. chipped in 1.5 tackles for loss and Elijah Halley had the lone sack of the day for The Rock defense.

Seton Hill running back Timothy Gaynor ran for 104 yards and quarterback Boden St. Marie ran for 32 yards and two touchdowns while also completing 17-of-37 passes for 167 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

Slippery Rock will now shift focus to a road trip to No. 10 Indiana (Pa.) next Saturday for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
