EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team fell to Edinboro, 79-50, Wednesday night at McComb Fieldhouse.
With the loss, Slippery Rock fell to 6-12 overall and 4-8 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action, while Edinboro improved its record to 13-9 overall and 10-2 in the PSAC West.
Iyanna Wade led SRU in scoring for the seventh time this season with 13 points as well as six assists. This was Wade's fourth straight game, and fifth in her last six overall, with five or more assists. Wade also grabbed three rebounds and picked up one steal.
Alyssa Gillin put in 11 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and one steal. This was Gillin's fifth consecutive multi-block game. With her two rejections, Gillin tied Lori Robinson for 11
th all-time on SRU's career blocks list with 56, as well as moving her into third place for blocks in a senior season with 31.
Sophia Hook was The Rock's third leading scorer with eight points, as well as the leading rebounder with eight. The junior guard also picked up one steal.
Mairan Haggerty and
Karianna Woods rounded out SRU's starting lineup and combined for 11 points, four rebounds, one assist and four steals. Haggerty and Woods led The Rock with two steals apiece.

Jorja Bernesser (2) and
Laney Bone (1) rounded out Slippery Rock's scorers. Bernesser blocked a career-high two shots.
Edinboro scored the first 16 points of the game, giving itself a lead it wouldn't relinquish. The Fighting Scots took a 40-21 lead into the halftime break and finished with a 79-50 victory.
Slippery Rock ended the game shooting 31.5 percent (17-of-54) from the field overall, 21.7 percent (5-for-23) from the 3-point line and  84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the charity stripe.Â
Edinboro finished the tilt shooting 46.7 percent (30-of-63) from the floor overall, 40 percent (6-for-15) from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the foul line.Â
The Fighting Scots ended the game with five players with 10 or more points, led by Rachel Manfredo with 17 points, as well as four blocks and three steals. Taylor Blunt, Maura Suman and Taylor Phillips all scored 11 points, while Hope Garrity rounded out Edinboro's double-digit scorers with 10.
Slippery Rock return to Morrow Field House to kickstart a three-game homestand against No. 8 Gannon University 1 p.m. Jan. 31.
