INDIANA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team stayed perfect in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Divison competition, Saturday when it downed Indiana University (Pa.), 2-0.
Slippery Rock's record improves to 4-2-0 overall with a 4-0-0 PSAC West record. IUP's overall record dropped to 5-1-1 and the Crimson Hawks fell to 3-1-0 in the PSAC West.
IUP entered the game undefeated, averaging a staggering 4.33 goals per game, while allowing just one goal all season. Slippery Rock has now allowed just two goals in its last five games while scoring multiple goals in four straight.
Abby Paterline and
Lilia Battalini scored one goal apiece for The Rock. Paterline's tally, the third of her season, put the freshman one goal behind
Marissa Salisbury for the SRU lead. Battalini's mark was the second goal of her freshman season, with her first coming as the game-winner last match versus Clarion.
Sophia Palermo picked up two assists against IUP. The two helpers upped Palermo's assist total to three in 2025. This leads The Rock as Paterline and
Bailey McGee trail Palermo with two assists each.
Paterline and Battalini led SRU with two shots each against the Crimson Hawks, with each landing one shot on goal.
Salisbury, Palermo,
Libby Zacharyasz and
Sam Braden rounded out the shot-takers for Slippery Rock with one shot each.

Leah Allman picked up her 16
th career shutout in SRU's victory. Allman's season record improved to 4-2-0 with her 25
th career victory, tying her with Amanda Wier for sixth all-time on Slippery Rock's career wins list.
The Rock started the game fast, opening the scoring with Paterline's strike off a pass from Palermo in the 16
th minute, making it 1-0 Slippery Rock.
SRU did not take long to double its lead, just five minutes later Battalini received a pass from Palermo and sent a shot from outside the box, which found its way behind IUP goalkeeper Sarah Gatz, giving Slippery Rock a 2-0 lead in the 20
th minute.
Slippery Rock entered halftime with a 5-4 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.
After a first half controlled by Slippery Rock, IUP put more pressure on The Rock in the second frame. The Rock was able to fend off any incoming Crimson Hawks attack to maintain their two goal lead.
The Crimson Hawks ended the match with a 10-8 edge in shots, and a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Slippery Rock will travel to No. 7 Gannon University, in a match between the two last unbeaten teams in PSAC West play, 6 p.m. Wednesday.
