SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University baseball team closed its regular season with a pair of losses to Seton Hill University Friday at Critchfield Park.

The Rock dropped the opener, 7-2, before losing game two - which was stopped after five innings due to inclement weather - 6-0.

Slippery Rock ends the regular season with a 31-18 overall record and a 16-12 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division while SHU improves to 35-13 and 21-7 in league play.

SRU, which entered Friday already assured of a PSAC Tournament berth due to its split with the Griffins on Thursday, heads to the conference tournament as the fourth seed out of the PSAC West with an opening-round game against host, and PSAC East champions, Millersville University on the horizon.

Seton Hill locked up the PSAC West title with its performance this weekend and will meet Shippensburg University in its first game of the PSAC Tournament.

Slippery Rock could never quite find its collective footing Friday as the Griffins jumped out 3-0 leads in both ends of the doubleheader on the way its sweep, which gave SHU a 3-1 series victory over The Rock.

SRU's seven hits over the doubleheader were distributed between
Tyler Cerame,
Stone Powell,
Treston Nemeth,
Michael Kitko,
Brandon Butler,
Robert Herr and
Zack Streightif with Kitko scoring one run and driving in another. Nemeth collected SRU's remaining RBI while Butler scored its other run.

Gage Gillott (4-3) was the pitcher of record in game one with five runs allowed on three hits and four walks over three innings.
Joe Purcell (4-3) had The Rock's decision in game two after allowing all six runs on nine hits.

Also seeing time on the mound Friday were
Gino Marra (2 IP, 2 runs) and
Parker Hogge (2 IP, 0 runs) in game one and
Joey Vanzin (2 IP, 0 runs) in game two.

Prior to Friday's game The Rock's 2025 senior class of Purcell, Herr, Cerame, Marra, Gillott, Streightif,
Ethan Edkins,
Hunter Loomis,
Cam Panyko Morris,
Caelan Bender and
Mark Wilbur were recognized in a pregame ceremony.

With the regular season concluded, Slippery Rock turns its attention to the postseason. SRU has now qualified for the PSAC Tournament in three of the last four seasons.

Regardless of The Rock's postseason results their 31 wins in 2025 already marks the program's second-highest win total over the last 12 years.

Slippery Rock and Millersville are set for an 8 p.m. start May 7 on day one of the PSAC Tournament.
