With the win, Slippery Rock improves its record to 7-8 overall and 2-1 inside the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division. The Griffins exit SRU at 2-8 overall and 1-4 in PSAC West competition.
Â
The Rock began Wednesday's match with an advantage before a single ball was served as Seton Hill traveled just five athletes, assuring SRU of a singles point and in need of only one other doubles flight win to capture the first team point of the day.
Â
That win came out of the first flight where
Alissia Kivi and
Nicole Kempton – the 45th-ranked team in Division II – earned a 6-0 win versus Maria Pereda Carissa Shepard. Kempton and Kivi end the day with a 20-6 record as a team.
Â
Tina Slovak and
Georgie Lancaster proceeded to send SRU into the singles portion of the match on a high note via a 6-1 victory against Alexandra Wolf and Kaylee Kanuka in the second flight.
Â
Slippery Rock went on to capture all five conducted singles matches in near-perfect fashion en route to the team's fourth shutout victory of 2025.
Â
Kempton opened the string of wins by way of a 6-0, 6-0 triumph from the third flight over Wolf followed by Lancaster downing Alycia Derr in fifth flight play with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of her own. Kempton is in the midst of a four-match winning streak while Lancaster earned her eighth win of the season while playing in her final regular season home match.
Â
Amaia Balaguer Brau, who was positioned 29th in the most recent set of ITA national singles rankings, then defeated Shepard 6-2, 6-0. The reigning PSAC West Athlete of the Week has now won six consecutive matches and is 19-8 in 2025.
Â
Kivi and
Dari Sakhanova ended the match with respective 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 wins against Pereda and Kanuka. Kivi played from the second flight to capture her 16th overall win of the year while Sakhanova, who was SRU's representative out of the fourth flight, improved her record to 14-9.
Â
Prior to Wednesday's match, the SRU tennis program honored Lancaster as part of its annual Senior Day festivities. A four-year member of the program, Lancaster has registered 66 total victories in singles and doubles competition while helping Slippery Rock to three NCAA Tournament appearances.Â
