SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The 17th ranked Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team outscored Gannon University 9-2 in the second half to pull away for a 14-5 win in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game Saturday from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Rock improve to 11-1 overall and remain unbeaten in PSAC West play with a 6-0 record in divisional action. Gannon slips to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in PSAC West games.

Slippery Rock struggled to solve Gannon goalie Haleigh Manning for most of the first three periods before scoring four goals in the third and five in the fourth to pull away for the win. The Rock recorded massive advantages in possession time, outshooting Gannon 49-12 and causing 22 of the Golden Knights' 30 turnovers, but Manning made 20 saves to keep her team in the game. SRU also put up advantages of 33-19 in ground balls and 22-8 in caused turnovers, while Gannon managed a 15-8 edge in draw controls.

The Rock went 14-of-16 on clear attempts and finished with 11 total turnovers in the game while Gannon was limited to 7-of-22 on the clear and finished with 30 turnovers.

All of Slippery Rock's points came from six players with
Grace Rotter leading the way with a season-high six goals.
Abby Fink added four goals and
Isabella Buono chipped in a hat trick and one assist as those three accounted for 13 of the team's 14 goals. The final goal came from
Krysta Frankowski, who also handed out two assists.

Leora Owings finished with three assists to go along with a team-high six ground balls and
Victoria Ziemba added one assist on a breakout play to account for the final points. Owings also grabbed three draw controls to give her 100 career draw controls.

Nicole Masi led a stellar defensive effort with five caused turnovers and six ground balls.
Paige Jenkins added three caused turnovers and five draw controls. A total of 13 SRU players finished with at least one caused turnover.

Lily Ventresca improved to 10-0 on the season in goal after recording four saves and allowing just five goals.

Gannon got two goals each from Charlie Hunter and Caroline Stevens with Stevens finishing with a game-high eight draw controls. Manning was the star for the Golden Knights with 20 saves and nine ground balls.

Slippery Rock will now shift its focus to a pair of road games next week with a Tuesday trip to Edinboro and a Saturday visit to Indiana (Pa.).
