ORLANDO, Fla. - The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team opened its annual Florida trip with a 7-0 victory over Winona State University Sunday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

SRU has now won three of its last four matches to improve its record to 3-3 while Winona State drops to 3-4 after suffering its third consecutive loss.

The Rock earned their latest win by claiming the team doubles point for the fifth time this season followed by six convincing singles wins to secure the program's first shutout of the year.

Amaia Balaguer Brau and
Tina Slovak improved their record to a perfect 6-0 in 2025 after capturing the first result of the match – a 6-1 win over Skylar Gary and Alexandra Madjun - from the second flight.

The Rock's top doubles pairing of
Nicole Kempton of
Alissia Kivi then locked in the first team point of day courtesy of a 6-2 victory against Lainey Ristau and Halle Rosentreter. Kempton and Kivi have now won four of their last five outings to improve to 14-3 as a team.

With the doubles point already decided,
Georgie Lancaster and
Dari Sakhanova proceeded to send Slippery Rock into the singles portion of the match with all the momentum as they bested Clara Thoemke and Ally Burger out of the third flight, 6-4. Sunday's triumph pushed Lancaster's and Sakhanova's winning percentage above the .500 mark on the year at 3-2.

Slippery Rock closed off its second victory against fellow Division II competition in as many matches by rattling off six consecutive singles victories starting with a 6-1, 6-0 win by Slovak against Gary out of the fourth flight.

As she has done for the majority of her freshman season, Kivi also grabbed a victory by way of a 6-0, 6-3 showing against Daulong in second flight play. Kivi has now posted four straight wins and is 10-4 on the year.

Kempton officially clinched the team victory for The Rock as she defeated Thoemke out of the third flight 6-0, 6-2. Like Kivi, Kempton is also on a run as of late as Sunday stretched her winning streak to three matches and improved her overall record to 8-5.

The remainder of the match saw Lancaster earn a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Burger from the sixth flight followed by wins from No. 21 Balaguer Brau against Ristau in the top flight (6-1, 6-4) and Sakhanova downing Nikita Agrawal in near shutout fashion (6-1, 6-0) out of the fifth flight.
