MORROW MAGIC
Since 2008-09, SRU is an outstanding 176-58 (.752) at Morrow Field House. SRU has recorded a winning record at Morrow Field House for 14 of the last 15 seasons. Across the PSAC, SRU ranks fourth in home winning percentage and fourth in total home wins since 2008-09.
Â
NON-CONFERENCE DOMINANCE
Dating back to the 2008-09 season, SRU has posted a 58-13 record (.817) in non-conference games at Morrow Field House as well as a 101-53 (.656) mark outside of the PSAC overall.
Â
SLIPPERY ROCK IN BACK-TO-BACKS
Stretches of two games in two days have not been a problem for The Rock historically speaking. Dating back to the 2009-10 season, SRU is a strong 69-41 (.627) when playing contests in back-to-back days. The Rock are even more impressive in the second leg of back-to-backs as evidenced by a 37-18 (.673) mark in those contests.
Â
This weekend serves as the first of three sets of two-games in two-day stretches for SRU in 2025-26. Slippery Rock also plays PSAC crossover games in back-to-back days against Shippensburg (Dec. 20) / Lock Haven (Dec. 21) and Bloomsburg (Jan. 2) / East Stroudsburg (Jan. 3).
Â
A LOT OF EXPERIENCE…
Of The Rock's 14-man roster, eight athletes are in at least their fourth season on a college campus.
Â
A LOOK AT THE RETURNERS
Slippery Rock returns seven athletes from last year's roster which concluded the 2024-25 campaign with a 15-14 overall record including an 11-9 mark in conference competition while once again qualifying for the PSAC Tournament.
Â
#3 Ike Herster: 6-6 - Guard - Sharon, Pa.
•
Ike Herster closed last season as The Rock's third-leading scorer at 14.1 ppg on 43.3 percent shooting from the field overall and a 77.9 percent rate at the foul line along with making 40 3-point attempts and per game averages of 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.9 steals. Herster opens 2025-26 ranked 12th in program history with 97 career 3-pointers made.
Â
#4 Sheick Samoura: 6-6 - Guard - Fayetteville, N.C.
• A veteran of 53 games played at The Rock,
Sheick Samoura is a 6.6 points per game scorer over his career to go with 42 blocks – which puts him just outside of 25th place on SRU's career blocks ledger behind Austin and Jabril Bailey (2009-11).
Â
#5 Maceo Austin: 6-5 - Guard - Sharon, Pa.
• One of the top all-around players in not only the PSAC, but the entire Atlantic Region,
Maceo Austin has had a stellar two-year run at The Rock. He enters the season holding career averages of 16.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.9 steals and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the field in his first 46 games played at SRU.
Â
• Austin, a 2023-24 All-PSAC West selection who very likely would have been bestowed with the honor last season if he did not fall short of the minimum games played requirement, starts this year already ranked 19th in program history for steals in a career and 24th in blocks.
Â
#11 Mack Staunch: 6-7 - Forward - Sharpsville, Pa.
•
Mack Staunch has worked his way into playing valuable minutes over his three-year Slippery Rock career. After redshirting as a true freshman in 2022-23, he averaged 4.6 minutes per game in 2023-24 before making four starts over 22 appearances a year ago while averaging 2.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game and shooting 48.6 percent from the field.
Â
#14 Bryon Ottrix: 6-0 - Guard - Cleveland, Ohio
•
Bryon Ottrix returns for his final collegiate season fresh off playing in a career-high 14 games during his junior year in 2024-25 when he averaged 1.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and just under one steal per game.
Â
#35 Enire Bowens: 6-10 - Forward - Ambridge, Pa.
• The largest athlete on the roster, 6-foot-10 inch, 235-pound forward
Enire Bowens has played in 12 games to date during his SRU career.
Â
HERSTER AND AUSTIN CLOSING IN 1,000 POINTS (AGAIN)
Already 1,000-point scorers over the entirety of their collegiate careers,
Ike Herster and
Maceo Austin are both very likely to become the 26th and 27th players in program history to score 1,000 points exclusively at The Rock. Herster has scored 823 points during his SRU tenure with Austin close behind at 776.
Â
When the two former high school teammates do both reach 1,000 points in Rock uniforms, they will become the first pair of active 1,000-point scorers at SRU since Mark Metzka and Dennis Greene shared the court as 1,000-point scorers during their senior years in 1994-95.
Â
MULTIPLE ACTIVE 1,000-POINT SCORERS AT SRU
1989-90: Bill Johnson and Myron Brown
1990-91: Myron Brown, Kevin Jones, C. Russell
1994-95: Dennis Greene and Mark Metzka
Â
NEW BEGINNINGS
Slippery Rock added a pair of impact transfer forwards over the offseason in
Kerwin Prince and
Isaac James.
Â
#12 Isaac James: 6-7 - Forward - Baltimore, Md.
•
Isaac James is more than familiar with Division II and particularly the Atlantic Region as the 6-foot-7-inch, 217-pound native of Baltimore had a very productive 2024-25 season at Salem University where he averaged 10.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and just under one steal per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field.
Â
#2 Kerwin Prince: 6-6 - Forward - Bronx, N.Y.
• Most recently of Division I University of New Orleans,
Kerwin Prince has the potential to be one of the top interior presences in the PSAC West.
Â
• No stranger to Division II competition, Prince is a former East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year at Mercy University where the 6-foot-6-inch, 235-pound forward averaged 19.6 points, 11.4 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in 2020-21.
Â
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION
Despite the abundance of veteran leadership, the other six athletes on Slippery Rock's 2025-26 roster consists of four true freshmen and two redshirt freshmen. Among its PSAC counterparts, SRU ranks fifth in the conference in terms of highest percentage of roster made up of freshmen (true or redshirt).
Â
#1 RJ Sledge: 5-9 - Guard - Pittsburgh, Pa.
•
RJ Sledge was all-state athlete and TribLIVE High School Sports Network WPIAL Class A Player of the Year at Imani Christian where he averaged 22.1 points, 4.7 assists, 4.6 steals and 4.2 rebounds per game as a senior. Â

Â
#13 Braylon Littlejohn: 6-1 - Guard - Butler, Pa.
•
Braylon Littlejohn is with the program for his redshirt freshman season. Littlejohn originally committed to play football at Miami (Ohio) as a three-star recruit and the No. 44 ranked prospect in Pennsylvania before deciding to concentrate on basketball. He was a multi-sport start at nearby Butler High School where he scored over 1,000 career points on the hardwood.
Â
#20 Kent Hairston: 6-5 - Guard - Columbus, Ohio
•
Kent Hairston enjoyed a strong prep career including a senior year when he was named to Ohio's All-Central District Team.
Â
#22 Elijah Hill: 6-4 - Guard - McDonald, Pa.
•
Elijah Hill will compete for an expanded role at The Rock this year after redshirting as a true freshman a season ago. He is a former all-section honoree at South Fayette High School
