SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team gets back in the win column with a 2-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown Saturday at James Egli Field.

Slippery Rock improves to 5-3-0 on the year and 5-1-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division. Pitt-Johnstown falls to 1-4-3 overall in 2025 and to 1-4-1 in the PSAC West.

Lindsey Price paced The Rock with one goal, her second tally of the season. Marissa Salisbury grabbed one assist for SRU, upping her season total to two.

A season-high 11 different Rock players registered a shot in the game. Salisbury led SRU with four shots, while Lilia Battalini trailed the senior with three shots. Price and Sophia Palermo were the other Rock players with multiple shots with two each.

Leah Allman improved her record to 5-3-0 on the year and picked up her 26th career win in the process. Allman also registered her 17th career shutout.

SRU controlled the action for the majority of the first half, as much of the action was in its attacking half. Slippery Rock opened the scoring on an own goal from Pitt-Johnstown in the 37th minute. The goal came off of a corner kick from Salisbury, when Libby Zacharayasz came and a UPJ defender both jumped for ball. As a result of the battle, the Mountain Cat defender headed the ball into their own net, giving SRU a 1-0 lead.

The Rock took an 11-0 advantage in shots and a 7-0 edge in shots on goal into halftime.

Slippery Rock doubled its advantage in the 65th minute when Price put home a goal from inside the 18-yard box off a pass from Salisbury, giving The Rock a 2-0 lead.

The Mountain Cats started to put more pressure on the SRU after their deficit grew to two, putting five shots on target, but Allman had an answer for each opportunity.

Slippery Rock would finish the game with an 18-6 edge in shots and 8-5 advantage in shots on goal, as SRU closed out its third shutout in its last five games.

Slippery Rock will head south for a PSAC West matchup at Seton Hill University 3 p.m. Wednesday.
