JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost a three-set match (27-25, 25-20, 25-21) on the road at Pitt-Johnstown Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division play.
Slippery Rock exits the weekend with an overall record of 9-11 overall and 2-5 inside the PSAC West, while Pitt-Johnstown improves to 13-6 overall and 4-3 in league matches.
Lauren VonderHaar paced The Rock's efforts with eight kills on a stellar .400 attack percentage to go with three blocks (two solo / one assisted).
Supplementing VonderHaar's production was
Emry Rumbaugh (7 kills),
Gwen McCarthy (6) and
Victoria Nalbach (5). Nalbach, who also landed a team-best four blocks, carried a .286 attack percentage.
Setters
Paityn Krause (15) and
Jaeden Yost (10) combined for 25 of The Rock's 32 kills with Krause also serving one ace.
Marley Annis rounded out SRU's top offensive performers with two aces.
Joining Nalbach and VonderHaar up front with multiple blocks was Rumbaugh (3),
Addison Jones (3) and
Hayden Deming (2). Libero
Kara Pasquale made 19 digs.
For the match, UPJ held advantages over SRU in kills (40-32), attack percentage (.104-.083), aces (10-3), digs (65-58) and blocks (10-6).
Slippery Rock returns to Morrow Field House to host Clarion 6 p.m. Oct. 24 for the program's annual Dig for the Cure match.
