SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost to Edinboro in a 74-57 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division decision Wednesday night at Morrow Field House.

The Rock fall to 7-12 on the year and 4-9 within PSAC action as the Fighting Scots – the fourth consecutive regionally ranked team SRU has faced – improve to 16-4 overall and 11-2 in league play.

Sophia Hook totaled a team-leading 13 points while pulling down five rebounds.
Brooklyn Jones joined her in double digits with 10 points.
Regan Atkins collected eight points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal, while
Alyssa Gillin recorded eight points and two rebounds.

Kayley Joseph-Bernard registered a well-rounded performance that included six points and team-leading figures of eight rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block.
Hannah Pugliese posted six points, four rebounds and a steal in her Morrow Field House debut.

Endya Robinson (4 points, 1 rebound) and
Rebecca Goetz (2 points, 1 rebound) rounded out SRU's eight scorers.
Mairan Haggerty added a blocked shot with
Anye Washington chipping in an assist.

A corner three from Gillin served as Slippery Rock's opening score that cut into an early 6-0 Edinboro lead. Five SRU players scored as The Rock shot 45.5 percent (5-11) to stay in touch throughout the first quarter. The Fighting Scots made 52.9 percent themselves (9-of-17) and outrebounded SRU 11-3 to take a 22-14 lead into the second.

A 12-5 run propelled Boro through a second quarter in which the Fighting Scots went 8-for-16 while holding The Rock to 26.7 percent (4-of-15). SRU strengthened its game off the glass and outrebounded Edinboro 10-9 in the second period but faced a 43-24 deficit at the half.

The Rock brought Edinboro's scorching offense to a halt at the outset of the second half, now allowing the Fighting Scots to make a field goal for 7:26. That said, Edinboro's layup to break its shooting drought sustained its 17-point advantage as the Fighting Scots converted 10-of-12 free throw chances in the third. SRU trailed 55-39 after 30 minutes of play.

Slippery Rock continued to keep pace with Edinboro through the fourth quarter, being outscored 19-18 to conclude the 17-point loss.

SRU shot 34.9 percent overall (22-of-63) and 29.2 percent from the 3-point arc (7-of-24). The Rock made 6-of-8 free throw attempts (.750) and lost the rebounding battle, 38-34. SRU did earn a +1 turnover margin in the contest, 20-19. Eight SRU players combined for 11 steals, the team's second-highest total of the season.

Edinboro went 26-of-54 from the field (.481) including a 4-of-15 look from the perimeter (.267). The Fighting Scots fared very well at the free throw line, making 18-of-21 opportunities (.857). Ashten Boggs led the Fighting Scots with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting, as Gabby McDuffie picked up a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

SRU will get back on the road to face Seton Hill University 1 p.m. Saturday. The Griffins were ranked 10
th nationally in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll.
