GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost to the No. 10 Seton Hill University Griffins in a 101-65 tilt Saturday on the road.

The Rock fall to 7-13 overall and 4-10 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play after playing a fifth consecutive regionally ranked opponent. The PSAC West-leading Griffins climb to 19-2 on the year and 13-1 within conference competition.

Rebecca Goetz posted a career-high 12 points to lead The Rock off the bench. She also blocked three shots and collected three rebounds.
Anye Washington totaled 10 points, three steals and two assists, while
Alyssa Gillin used a trio of 3-pointers to accumulate nine points and three rebounds.

Hannah Pugliese flirted with a double-double on seven points and a team-leading nine rebounds. The freshman also accounted for three assists and two steals.
Brooklyn Jones wound up with seven points and two assists as well.

Gillin kickstarted SRU into gear with back-to-back 3-pointers that cut an early SHU lead to 8-6. The Griffins responded with a 12-0 run that was halted by Pugliese coming off the bench to finish a layup with 2:13 left in the first. After recording two quick blocks, Robinson knocked down her first career 3-pointer as SRU went into the second quarter trailing 22-11.

The Griffins continued to light up the scoreboard offensively, particularly from 3-point range with five triples in nine attempts in the second quarter (55.6 percent). Goetz led Slippery Rock with six points in the second, as The Rock faced a 46-27 halftime deficit.

Seton Hill outscored SRU 31-10 in the third quarter behind its relentless up-and-down style of play. The Rock shot 53.9 percent (9-of-17) from the floor and 60 percent (3-of-5) from the 3-point arc in the fourth quarter, outplaying SHU by a 28-24 margin in the final 10 minutes. All 10 of Washington's points including a 2-of-2 look from distance came in the fourth.

Slippery Rock shot 35.5 percent overall (22-of-62) and 31.6 percent from the 3-point line (6-of-19). The Rock also converted 71.4 percent of their looks at the foul line (15-of-21). The Rock were outrebounded 49-43 (-6) and lost the turnover battle, 29-17 (-12).

A 17-player effort for SHU combined for 46.1 percent field goal shooting (35-of-76) and a 56.5 percent 3-point rate (13-of-23). The Griffins were inconsistent at the free throw line, making 58.1 percent (18-of-31).

Hallie Cowan led Seton Hill with 20 points as Mia Kalich double-doubled on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Helene Cowan nearly logged a triple-double for the Griffins on 16 points, nine assists, eight steals and three rebounds.

The Rock will next prepare through a midweek bye for a PSAC West clash against California (Pa.) 1 p.m. Feb. 8 at home. The SRU women's basketball team will welcome back and honor its alumnae that afternoon at Morrow Field House.
